PGH Sophomore ID Camp: Team 2 players on the rise

There are always a variety of players at a Prep Girls Hoops Showcase like the Sophomore ID Camp held on Sunday in Maple Grove. From the top performers from like the four profiled in <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2026/09/pgh-sophomore-id-camp-the-best-of-team-2/">PGH Sophomore ID Camp: The best of Team 2 </a>at one end of the spectrum to the newcomers still finding their way competing among the state's best college prospects at the other. Then there are those in the middle – kids with talent and potential who are raising their stock in preparation for what's next. That's our focus here in part 2 of our Team 2 evaluations – The players on the rise.    Sisco was one of our revelations at last year's Freshman Showcase. Some 12 months later, Nevaeh's progress was demonstrated at Sunday's Sophomore ID Camp which merely reinforced that first impression. The 5'10 forward from Grand Rapids (pictured above) has already become a varsity contributor, averaging better than 7 points per game as a freshman. Sisco brings physicality to the paint, works hard for position and consistently attacks the glass, but there is skill accompanying the strength. She has a notably soft touch around the rim and has begun extending her offense farther from the basket. The effort, vocal presence and competitiveness that initially caught our attention remain intact. Sisco continues to look like an important piece as Thunderhawks try to improve on a 6-win season.     Kouvalis isn't flashy –  far from it –  but she's the kind of player you notice because she keeps doing things correctly. The 5'10 guard/forward from Wayzata plays with constant effort and purpose, defending aggressively, rebounding hard and willingly accepting difficult assignments. It was particularly fun Sunday watching her battle Wayzata teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1243841' first='Sawyer' last='Backer'] – never an easy task. Kouvalis has good length and physicality, and her background in track and cross country shows in the way she moves and competes. Offensively, she can knock down the three or attack downhill without trying to manufacture plays that aren't there. After a productive summer with Hoop Habits Elite, Kouvalis continues making incremental progress toward cracking Wayzata's formidable varsity rotation.     Kral looked like a different player at Sunday's PGH Sophomore ID Camp than the one we've seen in the past. The 5'7 combo guard started somewhat tentatively but steadily ramped things up, playing with increased confidence and pace as the day progressed. She missed a couple early shots but kept firing when opportunities came – exactly what you want from someone who shot better than 50% from three-point distance this summer with [program_tooltip program_id='712697' first='MN' last='Crossfire']. Kral also defended aggressively, battled for 50-50 balls with gusto, and showed her vision with a beautiful long pass to a streaking teammate. More than anything, her presence has changed. Kral carries herself with greater confidence and increasingly looks capable of running the show. This should be a breakthrough season for Jayla at Shakopee.     Erickson was one of Sunday's real pleasant surprises. At just 5'4, Ayla could easily have disappeared in a showcase filled with bigger, flashier, more-heralded prospects. Instead, she found ways to get involved again and again. One possession particularly caught our attention as Erickson patiently surveyed the defense from the top, worked through the puzzle in front of her and then attacked, made a nifty move and scored. That sequence showed skill, but also experience, patience and poise. From there, Erickson seemed to be everywhere, flying up and down the floor and playing with consistent energy. A former MYAS Grade State champion for Blaine in 7th grade, Erickson showed the qualities of a poised floor general with the ball in her hands.
