PGH Sophomore ID Camp: Team 3 players on the rise

Intern Paxyn Rendahl has been with Prep Girls Hoops all summer contributing her basketball knowledge and scouting ability at tournaments throughout the AAU season. She is part of our evaluation team for all of the PGH Minnesota showcases this fall including the Sophomore ID Camp on Sunday.   A former college player from St. Scholastica who played high school ball at Pine Island, Paxyn has an excellent understanding of the game and what it takes to get seen and be recruited. She wrote these evaluations for Team 3 as well as Team 8.    If there were a triple threat award for a player with a smooth shot, who crashes boards, and has good character, it would go to Ellis. She had a strong summer with the [program_tooltip program_id='712665' first='Metro' last='Stars'] 2029 club team, displaying her signature style of play and putting up points every time we watched. With a quick drive to the basket, Maliyah wants the contact to get her to the line. If she knocks an opponent down, the first thing she does is pick them right back up. That combination of physical play and the right character is just what college coaches want. A top-60 prospect among Minnesota sophomores, Ellis is quick and crafty with the basketball, can create her own shot from anywhere, and knows how to finish.     A small ball handler who's not afraid to be herself on the floor, Stewart is feisty and intense. The Diamond Elite guard is equally effective in the point guard or shooting guard role. As soon as Laniyah has possession of the basketball, it's go time. Stewart can get into offense mode in a hurry, displaying skill and craft to throw the defense off her ASAP. When she was running the show for Team 3, things never seemed to get stagnant. The adjectives that best describe Stewart would probably be tenacious, aggressive, fearless. Already a varsity veteran, Laniyah averaged over 12 points per game for the Governors as a 9th grader     If you're going to hang your hat on one aspect of the game to carry you forward, there's nothing quite like defense to get the job done. Washington excelled on the defensive end at the Sophomore ID Camp on Sunday as she continuously put pressure on opposing ball handlers, dogging them from one end of the floor to the other. She's all about the hustle plays. Offensively, Jayda is a true team player. She knows how to create opportunities for her teammates. She keeps her head up at all times and has a good feel for the game. When her team needs a quick bucket, she can get out in transition to score or step back and pull the trigger for a jump shot. Bottom line: For Washington it's all about the work.     It can be easy to get frustrated with calls or really any part of the game not going your way, but Jorgenson does not let anything stop her from getting the work done. Come what may, Addyson was competitive from start to finish on Sunday playing with grit, toughness and tenacity.  The response she gives when things don't go her way is to punch harder on defense or offense. She's constantly raising the stakes for her opponents when she attacks back, and that type of mindset is crucial. Jorgenson's game is non-stop. She loves to drive to the basket, using her quick feet to get by opponents to score or draw fouls. She's confident, aggressive, talks on the floor consistently, and brings a ton of positive energy.
