PGH Sophomore ID Camp: Team 8 evaluations, part 1

Intern Paxyn Rendahl has been with Prep Girls Hoops all summer contributing her basketball knowledge and scouting ability at tournaments throughout the AAU season. She is part of our evaluation team for all of the PGH Minnesota showcases this fall including the Sophomore ID Camp on Sunday.    A former college player from St. Scholastica who played high school ball at Pine Island, Paxyn has an excellent understanding of the game and what it takes to get seen and be recruited. She wrote the evaluations for Team 3 (<a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2026/09/pgh-sophomore-id-camp-team-3-players-on-the-rise/">read those here</a>) and Team 8. Here is Team 8, part 1.    Van Leer (pictured above) may be a small guard, but with her fuel tank always on full, she is not afraid of hard work and discipline. The 5'5 Hoop Habits guard is always disciplined on the court. She excels at keeping herself involved on the floor – especially when there's a loose ball and she's diving and scrapping for possession. Tayjha has a seemingly endless motor, and plays with the kind of energy that spreads throughout her team, no matter who she plays with. The fun and energized Minnehaha Academy sophomore can handle the ball, shoot around the arc, and you can especially rely on her to go after the ball at any given time.     Relocating to the corner behind the three-point line, you'll more than likely find Oehler ready to shoot. The 5'9 wing truly knows how to take over the arc. When she gives the ball to a teammate, Grace relocates while her defense has eyes on the ball, allowing her to find an opening on the perimeter, receive the skip pass and knock down a shot. Her consistency around the arc, and especially in the deep corner spots, really stood out on Sunday. Not only is she dynamite at the 3-point line, but the Minneapolis Southwest sophomore is constantly moving and creating actions on offense to get her teammates open. She's a team player and a clear asset from long-range.     Mcallister is a teammate who always has your back. The Proctor sophomore shines as a silent weapon on the court, paying attention to the details and finishing every play. Kendall is a strong guard who uses her skills and defensive IQ to cover gaps and other help-side areas on defense. The 5'7 guard crashes the boards and pushes the ball up the floor immediately, looking for advantageous passes. She also covers down low for her teammates, whether that's stopping opponents on the drive or boxing off a player for her teammate to get to the rim. Mcallister's dedication to the game and her teammates gave the team dynamic an air of energy, hustle, and trust.     Davis plays with a significant amount of fight in her game, and as a 5'11, athletic forward, she finds herself continually fighting down low. Using her height and long frame, Esme times her blocks well and proceeds to use herself as a rim protector in the post. Not only does she protect the basket, the Maple Grove sophomore is consistently ready to shoot. Cutting through the lane and catching the pass for a quick turnaround shot is where she's strongest offensively. Davis also knows how to move efficiently around the arc as a wing. She's confident when battling at the block, but also when taking her shot from range.
