PGH Wisconsin The Expo Team Two Evaluations: Part One

The Expo was in the books, and we saw a talented crop of players who travelled to Appleton, through the fog, to play basketball on Sunday Morning. Over the next week or so, we will look at the high school players and highlight what they brought to the floor during the 5v5 portion of the event. We had over 80 players at the Expo, and we will highlight what each did to stand out in their minutes. Let's talk about the players on Team Two.

The Sauk Prairie guard has put together an impressive last year of basketball, and she played well again this past weekend. Hanson has the speed and physicality to power to the rim and finish through contact. She also has the vision to make the right reads with the ball and help her teammates get open looks at the basket.

Johnson is a smaller guard who can make plays off the dribble. She's comfortable playing under pressure and is willing to play off the ball. I liked her ability and willingness to set screens away from the ball and help her teammates get open. She's a team-first player.

The Oshkosh native is a smaller guard who has an excellent motor, especially on defense. Koehler isn't a player who looks to score every time down the floor. However, she brings an edge to the court and will help earn her team extra possessions. She defends desperately, and I mean that in the best way possible.

I thought Maselter did an impressive job on both ends in Appleton last weekend. The Sun Prairie native is a solid athlete who can defend on the perimeter. The guard also has the skill set to get to the basket or space the floor as an off-ball guard. She can slot into either role well.

The Martin Luther wing played away from the ball offensively for this group of players and did well. She moved the ball well and didn't waste time with the ball in her hands. She excelled in a role where she could connect her team's offense and get the most out of possessions.

Thomson had an excellent first season at Lena last winter and impressed in Appleton. She's a strong kid who can handle the ball and play around the basket in the post. I also like her versatility on defense because of her length, physicality, and athleticism.
