The Expo: Team 3 evaluations, part 2

After covering our series of Prep Girls Hoops events all month long, this week we're wrapping things up with our coverage of the PGH Minnesota Expo, which was held at Maple Grove Middle School on Sunday. The 60-plus players in the gym were all there for different reasons. Some returning from injury, some looking to prove themselves against tough competition, and others hoping to be seen for the first time. Whatever the reason may be, these juniors and seniors came to play. PGH scouts Grant McGinnis, Tony Ragulen, and I will be breaking down our evaluations one team at a time. Here is Team 3, part 2.    Few players in the gym on Sunday could contend with Soash. The 5'7 point guard (pictured above) was unstoppable on offense, using her supreme skill with the ball and ability to change up the pace to make one shifty drive to the basket after another. Brooke's footwork, soft touch, and ability to finish through contact made her a lethal force for Team 3. Not to mention, the Champlin Park junior is just as skilled as a passer and distributor. Soash sees the floor incredibly well, and consistently uses her abilities as a playmaker to get everyone involved in the offense. A top-30 ranked prospect in the class of 2028, the Rebels standout demonstrated exactly why she has multiple scholarship-level offers.     The Expo was our first look at Borgos since June, and just like in the AAU season, we found a lot to like about her performance on Sunday. Long, athletic, and fundamentally sound, the 5'8 guard impressed us with her footwork around the rim, smooth shooting mechanics, and strong understanding of how to run an offense. On the other end of the floor it was Aubrey's light feet and quickness that proved to be an asset for Team 3. Throughout the day, the Underwood junior made smart decisions with the ball, made hustle plays, and was a vocal presence on defense. With D2 commit [player_tooltip player_id='675971' first='Trinity' last='Baker'] leading the way, Borgos is likely to be a strong complementary piece for the Rockets this winter.     A known prospect in the state of Iowa, Cook was a fresh face for our scouts on Sunday, and the Montezuma senior gave us plenty to take notice of. Standing at 5'5 with a solid, muscular build, Vivian excels as an aggressive one-on-one defender who uses her strength to play physical and absorb contact from her opponents. On the offensive end, the [program_tooltip program_id='1830036' first='Iowa' last='Hoop Dreams'] guard keeps it simple. She doesn't force things, moves well off the ball, and is a confident shooter who can let the ball fly from well beyond the three-point line. After averaging 14.8 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game last winter, we suspect this will be a big year for Cook.     Despite being overmatched in a few different areas, Clough still found a way to make a positive impact for Team 3 on Sunday. The 5'4 guard was active on the glass, using her strength to grab rebounds over taller players. On defense Emma fought hard on each possession, and stayed ready, allowing her to get up the floor for an open look in transition when one of her teammates forced a turnover. Overall, the Park Center junior worked hard on each possession, bringing a consistent level of effort all afternoon.
