The Expo: Team 4 evaluations, part 2

After covering our series of Prep Girls Hoops events throughout September, this week we're wrapping things up with our coverage of the PGH Minnesota Expo, which was held at Maple Grove Middle School on Sunday. The 60-plus players in the gym were all there for different reasons. Some returning from injury, some looking to prove themselves against tough competition, and others hoping to be seen for the first time. Whatever the reason may be, these juniors and seniors came to play. PGH scouts Grant McGinnis, Tony Ragulen, and I have been breaking down our evaluations one team at a time. Here is Team 4, part 2.    Standing at 5'6 with a relatively small frame, Krenn (pictured above) isn't going to overwhelm anyone with her size, but don't let that fool you. This kid is a sleeper! All throughout The Expo the Burnsville junior played like she had something to prove. Megan used her substantial quickness to her advantage on every play. She exploded to the rim, blowing past defenders along the way, cherry-picked passes on defense, and hustled at every opportunity. On top of that, she rebounded incredibly well for a guard, defended with energy and intensity, and displayed sound decision making when the ball was in her hands. After an eight-win season last winter, Burnsville isn't likely to win any hardware this year, but rest assured, Krenn is going to be paramount for the Blaze.     Following a stellar AAU season with [program_tooltip program_id='712697' first='MN' last='Crossfire']'s 2027 E32 squad, Schultz was crucial for Team 4 at The Expo. Well-known for her prowess as a three-point shooter, the 5'8 guard shot the lights out from beyond the arc. By using screens, off-ball movement, and skilled ball handling, Jessa excels at creating space for herself out on the perimeter. And while her shot isn't necessarily textbook, she always shoots the ball at a high clip. On top of her shooting, the Holy Angels senior's aggressive defense and consistent work ethic made her standout on Sunday. After averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds per game for the Stars last season, the Lawrence University commit looks ready to take things up another notch.     The Expo provided us our first opportunity to see Lanners live. With plenty of upside to her game, the 5'8 guard impressed in multiple ways. While she wasn't the most assertive on the floor in terms of scoring, Samantha showcased her strong fundamental skillset all afternoon. She took smart shots when the ball was in her hands, not forcing anything when she was covered by the defense. On the other end of the floor, the Underwood junior's length and athletic potential were easy to see. Lanners moves well laterally, is relatively quick, and elevates with ease. It's still early, but we think she has the tools needed to be a factor for the Rockets in her junior season.     Ward's performance on Sunday showed potential in a number of areas. Standing at 5'10 with a long, lean frame her versatility was immediately apparent. Zamara moves well, has good elevation, and can play a variety of positions on both ends of the floor. What really stood out, though, was her activity on the glass. She consistently crashes the glass and uses her physicality to battle for every rebound. Previously at Fridley, Ward has made the switch to Park Center, where she'll look to carve out a role in the Pirates lineup this season. We're eager to see how her game develops over the next couple of years.
