<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lockdown Defenders and Tempo Setters</h2>   Some players impact the game by putting up big numbers. Others change the game through defense, pace, pressure, and heart. This group features players who stood out as lockdown defenders and tempo setters—athletic players who disrupt opposing offenses, create turnovers, push the pace, and dictate the flow of the game with their instincts and toughness.    [player_tooltip player_id='1900361' first='Naiya' last='Carey-Boxley'] is the definition of a lockdown defender and tempo energy creator. She plays fearless, never shying away from contact or tough situations, and consistently brings relentless effort on every possession. Naiya takes defense personally—when her matchup scores, you can see it—and she responds with even more intensity on the defensive end. Naiya also has a great ability to finish inside, particularly when her defense leads to her offense.   Offensively, she is a knockdown wing shooter and a shifty driver who can create separation and attack the basket. But what truly separates Naiya is her impact beyond the stat sheet. She is the heart of every team she plays for. Playing for the NW Greyhounds over the summer on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, Naiya grew leaps and bounds as a player, playing against the best competition in the country.   Regardless of how she is playing or what the scoreboard says, Naiya is constantly encouraging her teammates, celebrating their success, and bringing energy to every possession. That kind of competitive spirit and leadership is difficult to teach—and it makes her a special player to watch in the 2030 class.     Blake is an extremely tough and quick defender who seems to find herself in every play. Whether she is battling for rebounds, hassling opponents in the paint, or jumping passing lanes, Blake brings relentless energy and a scrappy mentality to every possession. She plays to win and consistently makes her presence felt on the defensive end. When given opportunities offensively, Blake does a great job finishing at the basket and making the most of her chances. She exemplifies what it means to be a true two-way player—impacting the game through effort, toughness, defense, and timely scoring.     [player_tooltip player_id='1895930' first='McKenzie' last='Gooseman'] is definitely a player to watch as she enters high school. A tall, athletic and versatile player who can impact the game across multiple positions, McKenzie really shines on the defensive end. She plays with toughness, anticipates well, and has an exceptional ability to block shots with her length and athleticism. With her long arms and the potential to continue growing, her defensive impact could become even more difficult for opponents to handle.   Offensively, McKenzie is an athletic finisher who can attack the basket, blow past defenders and finish through or over taller opponents. Her combination of size, athleticism, versatility and defensive instincts makes her an intriguing 2030 prospect with plenty of upside.     [player_tooltip player_id='1901530' first='Zuri' last='Samuels'] is a spark plug in every sense of the word. She brings relentless energy to every possession, particularly on the defensive end, where her quickness, toughness and fearlessness make her a point guard's worst nightmare. Zuri will pressure the ball for all 94 feet, never backing down from contact or allowing an opponent to get comfortable.   Her instincts make her equally effective in the press from multiple positions, including the back of the press, where her ability to anticipate passes allows her to create turnovers and ignite transition. A member of the NW Greyhounds Adidas 3SSB program, Zuri had a tremendous summer and made significant strides as both a player and floor general. Offensively, she can get hot from beyond the arc and has a strong spin move to create opportunities inside. Her relentless motor, defensive instincts and growing offensive game make Zuri one of the 2030 players to watch.     I was impressed with [player_tooltip player_id='1871560' first='Blake' last='Fatien'] from the moment she stepped on the court at the WA Freshman Showcase. Her size and length immediately stood out, but it was her relentless motor and defensive activity that really caught my attention. Blake hustles on every possession and uses her size and athleticism to rebound, block shots and run the floor. She was a magnet for the ball defensively, blocking multiple shots throughout the event and consistently making an impact around the basket with offensive boards.   Blake also excels in the open court and finishes well at the rim, showing that her impact extends to both ends of the floor. Her combination of length, athleticism, toughness and defensive instincts makes her a true two-way player and one to watch in the 2030 class.
