Arkansas' 2028 class has no shortage of guards looking to make their mark, but what makes this group interesting is how differently each player approaches the game. Some can change the momentum with a scoring run, others bring the kind of defensive energy that makes life difficult for opposing backcourts, and a few have the versatility to do a little bit of everything. As these prospects continue carving out their roles and gaining experience, their individual styles are becoming just as important to watch as the numbers they put up. Here are several 2028 guards in Arkansas who deserve more attention.

[player_tooltip player_id='952547' first='Kenady' last='Barrett']

[player_tooltip player_id='952547' first='Kenady' last='Barrett'] has quickly established herself as one of the more intriguing young prospects in Arkansas, bringing a combination of size, scoring ability and versatility to Poyen. The 6'0” guard put together an impressive season, averaging 22 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and 2.5 blocks per game in late January, according to Prep Girls Hoops. She also showed just how high her scoring ceiling can be, erupting for 33 points in Poyen's 54-46 state tournament win over Bigelow. Earlier in the season, Barrett opened with 21 points, 11 rebounds and a block against Centerpoint, immediately showing her ability to impact the game beyond scoring. She continued producing in the postseason with 20 points and eight rebounds against Izard County. Offensively, Barrett is a dangerous multi-level scorer who can knock down threes, create off the dribble and hit mid-range jumpers when defenders take away the drive. Her ball-handling allows her to attack open lanes, while her ability to move without the ball gives her additional ways to find scoring opportunities. She also brings defensive versatility, using her activity to jump passing lanes and contribute as a shot-blocking threat. With the ability to fill up the stat sheet in several categories, Barrett is a young prospect whose scoring talent and all-around production make her one to keep watching in Arkansas.

[player_tooltip player_id='1818557' first='Bo' last='Melder']

[player_tooltip player_id='1818557' first='Bo' last='Melder'] has continued to make a name for herself as a scoring threat in Arkansas' 2028 class, bringing an aggressive offensive game and the ability to impact a game in multiple ways. The 5'7” guard from Pottsville was an all-conference performer last season and has earned attention for her ability to score both inside and from the perimeter. Melder can knock down threes with a defender closing out, attack open lanes and put pressure on defenses when she gets downhill. She has also shown that she can create opportunities for teammates, using the attention she draws as a scorer to find open players and make quick decisions with the ball. During AAU competition with Arkansas Hype, Melder showcased her playmaking ability at the Hardwood NWA Blast, helping her team finish 5-0 and win the tournament. She showed a willingness to make the extra pass, get the ball inside to her posts and run the offense through set plays and pick-and-roll situations. When playing off the ball, she can work around screens and knock down open looks from three. Defensively, Melder brings plenty of energy, using her length to disrupt passing lanes and pressure opposing guards. She has also shown a knack for delivering in big moments, including hitting a game-winner at the buzzer. With college interest from Hendrix and Williams Baptist already reported, Melder is a guard worth keeping an eye on as she continues developing her scoring and playmaking at Pottsville.

[player_tooltip player_id='1202392' first='Rylee' last='Williams']

[player_tooltip player_id='1202392' first='Rylee' last='Williams'] has already proven she can be one of the more dangerous scoring guards in Arkansas' 2028 class, combining shot creation, finishing ability and defensive activity. The 5'9” guard had a standout freshman season at Prescott, earning all-state and all-conference honors while averaging 19 points, six rebounds and three steals per game, according to Prep Girls Hoops. Williams has the ability to score from multiple levels, whether she's knocking down a three off the catch, creating space for a jumper or attacking the basket when a driving lane opens. What makes her particularly difficult to defend is her ability to finish through contact and use her floater against taller defenders in the paint. She doesn't have to rely on perimeter shooting to produce, as her slashing ability allows her to put consistent pressure on the defense. Williams also brings plenty of value on the other end, using her quick lateral movement and active hands to stay in front of opposing guards and disrupt passing lanes. After putting together such a productive freshman campaign, she now moves to Joe T. Robinson, where she'll have an opportunity to carry that momentum into a new setting. With her scoring instincts and ability to impact the game on both ends, Williams is a guard worth watching as she continues to establish herself among Arkansas' top 2028 prospects.

Madison Reese

[player_tooltip player_id='1091112' first='Madison' last='Reese'] is a shooting guard who brings a reliable perimeter scoring threat and the ability to create her own shot to Bentonville West. The 5'9” 2028 prospect has drawn attention for her shooting consistency, particularly her ability to get shots off quickly without needing much space. During AAU competition with [program_tooltip program_id='715977' first='AAO' last='Flight'], Reese impressed peoplee with her outside shooting, showing a quick release and the confidence to knock down jumpers even with defenders closing out. However, her offensive game extends beyond the three-point line. Reese has also shown the ability to attack aggressive closeouts, take a couple of dribbles into the mid-range and pull up before the defense can recover. When driving lanes open, she can use her size to attack the basket and finish through traffic against taller defenders. That versatility makes her an intriguing option offensively because defenders have to respect her shot while still being prepared for her to put the ball on the floor. Reese has also received college interest, with Ouachita Baptist extending her an offer as she continues to develop at Bentonville West. With her shooting ability and potential as a floor-spacing guard, Reese is a player to watch as she continues making her mark in the 2028 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1356649' first='Hannah' last='Blagg']

[player_tooltip player_id='1356649' first='Hannah' last='Blagg'] is a guard to keep an eye on. The White County Central prospect has been listed as a shooting guard, giving her an opportunity to develop her game on the perimeter and continue establishing her role within the Bears' backcourt. At 5'4”, Blagg will need to rely on her guard skills, including her ability to handle the ball, create space and make smart decisions against defensive pressure. Continuing to develop her perimeter shooting and ability to attack off the dribble could help her become a more consistent offensive contributor. On the defensive end, staying active, anticipating passing lanes and applying pressure on opposing guards can help her make an impact beyond scoring. Blagg is still a young prospect with room to grow, and earning a spot among the players listed in Prep Girls Hoops' 2028 Arkansas rankings gives her a name to follow as she continues developing at White County Central.
