Whether they are labeled guards or forwards, these players have the size to play on the next level to go along with a very solid skill set. With over 50 kids in attendance these players stood out with the poise they showed on the basketball and the ability to make plays happen for their teams on any given possession and pretty much when they decided to. I have little doubt that these attributes will translate over to the college level when these players graduate.

Layla looks the part there is no question about that and she plays bigger than the 5'11 she is listed at. For the majority of game one Layla was the primary ball handler for a very talented team that included multiple D1 prospects. Hall did a nice job getting the offense started in the half-court while remaining a threat to score at any time. One of the plays of the day came when she ripped a defensive rebound down, pushed her dribble out at full speed, and then throttled down before splitting to defenders and scoring at the rim. Hall shot the ball very well from the perimeter once again, knocking down shots behind and just in front of the three-point line. Layla played very unselfishly throughout the day, but when she wanted to score she had no trouble creating and getting good shots at the rim. When I spoke to Hall she told me that she thought was visiting the University of Memphis this weekend.

No one played harder than Safari and I am not sure anyone scored more points, other than maybe [player_tooltip player_id='822483' first='Ava' last='Zenner']. Underdue was relentless on the offensive glass where she cleaned up missed shots and got multiple conversions on easy put-backs. She also ran as hard or harder than any player on the break with or without the basketball and scored several times in transition. In the half court, Underdue showed a very nice combination of footwork and fakes before knocking down a tough fadeaway jump shot. That is becoming somewhat of a patented move for her when I watch her play. In a loaded 2029 class in the state of Georgia, Safari continues to push for a higher ranking with outstanding play. I have Langston Hughes marked on my calendar and look forward to seeing her play with the basketball in her hands more often.

When Kenneth Pannell pulls you up in front of the entire group to brag on how you warmed up, then you are doing something right. So it was no surprise to see [player_tooltip player_id='1242017' first='Davis' last=''] get right to work on the offensive end with inside-out dribble, crossover dribble before knocking down an 18-foot jump shot fading right. She is a very polished guard who can create her own shot without wasted dribbles or forcing it when it's not there. She operates from a very strong fundamental base that incorporates good use of jab steps, shot fakes, and concise ball-handling combinations. Alyssa has a strong frame and used it initiate and absorb contact with the basketball. This is the second showcase in under a month where I saw [player_tooltip player_id='1242017' first='Davis' last=''] do the exact same thing against a high level of competition. There is a very good chance she becomes one of the proficient scorers in Tennessee the next two years.

Tori is one of the more versatile players in the state of Georgia. A Swiss Army knife if you will. With the combination of size, skill, and athleticism that Thompson possesses, she will probably play four positions again for Hillgrove this season. You have to account for Tori at all times on the court due to her quickness and the high motor with which she plays. Thompson doesn't need plays run for her on the offensive end to impact games (although, Hillgrove is going to need to do some of that this season). Whether it's loose balls, offensive rebounds, or steals, she finds ways to put the ball in the basket. Tori is very competent shooter from the perimeter and becoming an elite ball handler (already very good). Not only is she one of the more versatile players in the state, but she is competes no matter where she is playing and plays with a high level of consistency.

London may have been one of the youngest of this group, but you wouldn't know it if you walked into the gym and watched her play. Chaney moved with fluidity handling the basketball in the break and pushing it out in transition. London displayed the ability to score from midrange as well. When she got to the rim Chaney really elevated off the floor, finishing over defenders. She is very skilled for her age in a lot of areas and has the potential to be a P4 prospect. The future is very bright for this 2030. With an offer from South Alabama on the table already, I expect that number to grow by a lot, sooner rather than later.

Mariah was another of the youngest players at the camp who was impossible not to notice. When Wren had the basketball in her hands, she made good things happen the vast majority of the time. She shot the ball very well from three-point range and was crafty and efficient scoring in the paint. The thing I really was impressed with was her vision and unselfishness. Several times Mariah could have taken shots that weren't bad, but gave the ball up to teammates who were in a better position to score. That's rare in showcase environments and should be commended. I think this kid has a lot potential and a very high ceiling. She plays with a high IQ and already can hurt defenses in a number of ways.
