With our other scouts being out of town this weekend, Prep Girls Hoops intern Paxyn Rendahl was put up to the task of covering the second week of Breakdown's annual Fall League series. With a competitive spirit and a deep passion for her team's success, the 6'0 combo guard brings energy and determination to every possession. Her versatility allows her to adapt to different situations on the court, whether that means stepping up offensively, making smart plays, or supporting her teammates when needed. Ranked #1 in Minnesota's freshman class, Ashlee has the length and athleticism that allows her to stay competitive on both ends of the court and continues to rival her opponents physically. She plays with purpose and intensity, constantly looking for ways to make an impact on both ends of the floor. After averaging 20.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game as an 8th grader, Wilson will be the player to watch in class AAA this year.

INCREASING THEIR PROFILES

Shooting consistently from beyond the arc, Wurst proves she is a strong and confident presence on the court. The 5'9 guard maintains a steady rhythm from the perimeter and follows her shots, ready to benefit from rebounds or finish with a layup. She maintains her composure under pressure and willingly takes open shots when opportunities arise. Sarah's skill to take advantage of scoring opportunities makes her a dangerous offensive threat. Beyond her shooting consistency, the St. Croix Lutheran junior creates offensive opportunities for her teammates through smart movement and quick decisions with or without the basketball. Wurst's shooting, quick tempo, and playing an offensive game of smart choices will be a great advantage for the Crusaders in the upcoming high school season.

Making a handful of appearances for St. Croix Prep in her freshman season, Schweiss looks ready to take on a much larger role this year. A beast on the defensive end, she makes opportunities difficult for her opponents no matter where they are on the court. Whether she's jumping into passing lanes for a steal, contesting shots, or applying pressure on the perimeter, the Lions guard consistently finds ways to disrupt the opposing offense. Ava's defensive effort doesn't stop once the shot goes up, as she immediately crashes the boards to secure rebounds and limit second-chance opportunities. Schweiss also does an excellent job of protecting the ball and maintaining possession for her team, using her awareness and hustle to create extra opportunities on offense.

As a 5'10 post player with the shooting ability of a guard, Setterstrom brings a unique combination of size, skill, and strength to the court. While she can stretch the floor with her shooting, she is a major force to be reckoned with down low. Annie's powerful dribble moves in the paint help her maintain balance and control when attacking through contact, allowing her to finish strong around the basket. Offensively, she shines in the paint, whether using her strength to make powerful moves with the ball or creating space to get open without it. Her versatility, physical presence, and ability to score in multiple ways make her a difficult matchup for any defender. Only an 8th grader, Setterstrom will be a key asset for the Lions this season.

Now in her junior year at White Bear Lake, Hartzel sees a play developing and knows how to make it happen. With strong court awareness, she recognizes opportunities to cut backdoor, moving quickly and decisively to catch the defense off guard. Once she finds an opening, the Bears guard attacks the basket with confidence, finishing strong around the hoop. Her toughness and ability to drive down low make her a valuable offensive threat, especially when she can use her strength to push through defensive pressure. Beyond her scoring ability, Hartzel brings outstanding hustle and determination to every possession. Her quick reactions, aggressive mindset, and willingness to do the extra work allow her to create opportunities and make a consistent impact on the court.

A strong and well-rounded player, Law makes an impact in multiple areas of the game. Standing at 5'10, her strong frame, physical presence, and versatility allow her to contribute on both ends of the court, while her team-first mindset sets her apart. Hayden consistently looks for ways to help her teammates succeed, whether that means securing rebounds, creating extra possessions, or making a high IQ play. When she grabs a board, the White Bear Lake forward knows when to go back up strong and when to kick the ball back out to reset the offense and create another scoring opportunity. Law's strength, awareness, and unselfish approach make her a valuable contributor whose priorities include team success and finding ways to win.

PGH Intern Paxyn Rendahl wrote these evaluations.
