Empire State Takeover Fall Showcase-The Next Wave (AM)

This weekend, I attended the Empire State Takeover Fall Showcase at Union College in Schenectady, NY. 100 of the best prospects from New York were on hand to display their skills. A few players from Vermont and Pennsylvania also attended. Several of the players who attended are currently in the Prep Girls Hoops rankings, making for an exciting day of hoops. The event was divided into two sessions. One in the morning. One in the afternoon. Here is my next wave of standouts from the AM Session.

[player_tooltip player_id='1885357' first='Olivia' last='Guifre'] has an impressive performance at the Empire State Takeover Showcase. Guifre is a talented, athletic player who has all the tools. She is outstanding at running the floor and finishing in transition. Guifre is always playing downhill and is aggressive about getting to the rim. She possesses a floater that is difficult to defend, both down the lane and on the baseline. Guifre is a very good outside shooter with excellent footwork and a quick release. She is an excellent passer with super court vision and plays with a high IQ.

[player_tooltip player_id='1871454' first='Holly' last='Hirsch'] was a New York State Class A honorable mention all-star selection last season, and it's easy to understand why. Hirsch came out on fire in the 3v3 and 5v5 games last weekend. Hirsch is an outstanding shooter from behind the arc. She has deep range and a quick trigger. Hirsch is especially solid when she pulls up in transition. Hirsch is a skilled ball-handler and consistent finisher on the break. She has superb court vision and always seems to find the open player on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1867012' first='Elizabeth' last='Darling'] is the type of player that every coach likes to have on their roster. Darling is especially good off the catch due to her quick release. She is a solid ball handler and gets beat defenders off the bounce. Darling rebounds well for her size and scores on putbacks. She sees the floor well and distributes the ball to open teammates. Darling uses her shiftiness to score in the lane as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1922928' first='Brynn' last='Elfeldt'] is listed as a combo guard, but it is running the point where she really shines. Elfeldt is a crafty ball-handler who knows how to beat defenders and get to the rim. She is lethal with her pull-up jumper from the mid-range, and can step out and knock down threes as well. Comstock grabbed my attention right away. She is a prolific scorer who reached the 1,000-point mark as a junior. She is a reliable shooter from beyond the 3-point arc with deep range and smooth mechanics. Her 5'11" frame allows her to shoot over smaller guards. Comstock can guard any position and is an excellent shot-blocker. She is a lockdown defender who creates steals with her length.
