Key Players:
Ryleigh is the engine of the Lady Huskies' offense and a highly competitive lead guard who combines elite passing instincts with three-level scoring ability. She sees the floor at an advanced level and consistently looks for ways to create advantages for her teammates. Whether she is pushing the basketball in transition, operating in ball-screen actions, or breaking down the defense in the half court, she has the vision and playmaking feel needed to organize the offense. Her passing allows her to manipulate defensive coverage and deliver the basketball to teammates in scoring positions. She can find runners in transition, recognize cutters and locate shooters when help defenders collapse into the paint. She does more than simply move the ball as she creates opportunities by forcing defenders to react to her penetration and then making the correct read. Her scoring versatility makes her difficult to defend because opponents cannot simply play her for the pass. When defenders go underneath screens or give her space, she can punish them with her jumper. When they crowd her on the perimeter, she has the ball-handling ability and competitive mindset to put pressure on the rim.

A Talented and Experienced Backcourt:
The combination of Ryleigh, Lauryn, and Layla gives Hewitt-Trussville a potentially dangerous senior backcourt. All three can score at multiple levels, but each brings a different element to the lineup.
Ryleigh provides elite passing and primary playmaking. Lauryn brings dynamic scoring and lockdown defense. Layla supplies positional size, shooting, and high-level floor awareness. Their complementary skill sets should allow Coach Alexander to use several guard combinations without sacrificing ball-handling, shot creation or floor spacing.
Because all three guards can score, opposing defenses will have difficulty concentrating their attention on one player. Aggressive help against Ryleigh's penetration could create open shots for Lauren or Layla. Running Lauren off the three-point line could allow her to attack the paint, while Layla's shooting can keep weak-side defenders from collapsing.
The group's collective experience should also benefit Hewitt-Trussville in close games. Senior guards who can handle pressure, make decisions and create their own offense are valuable during postseason play.

gained important experience as young guards and now have an opportunity to take another step in their development.
Caycee adds another ball-handler to a deep perimeter rotation. Her ability to play either guard position should give Hewitt-Trussville flexibility and allow the Lady Huskies to maintain their pace when substitutions are made. Livie provides another guard capable of contributing within the team's up-tempo system. Both young players will benefit from competing alongside three experienced senior guards.
Sophie's role will be important to the balance of the lineup. With so much attention directed toward the backcourt, her ability to defend, rebound and provide a frontcourt presence will help connect the team. The Lady Huskies will need her to compete inside and help complete defensive possessions on the glass.
The returning group already understands Coach Alexander's system and expectations. That familiarity should help Hewitt-Trussville play with better chemistry and execution early in the season.

What to Expect From the Lady Huskies
Coach Alexander has established a direct identity for her team:
Play fast. Space the floor. Defend hard. Be selfless, relentless and tough.
Hewitt-Trussville wants to create tempo and force opponents to make decisions under pressure. With several capable ball-handlers, the Lady Huskies should be able to advance the basketball quickly and attack before opposing defenses become organized.
Floor spacing will be another major component of the offense. Ryleigh, Lauren, and Layla can all threaten the defense from the perimeter, which should create wider driving lanes and make it harder for help defenders to crowd the paint. The Lady Huskies must continue moving the ball, making the extra pass and trusting the quality of their offensive possessions.
Defensively, Hewitt-Trussville has the guard depth to apply consistent perimeter pressure. The Lady Huskies want to defend hard, disrupt offensive rhythm, and turn stops into transition opportunities. Their defensive success, however, will require more than pressure on the ball. Every player must communicate, rotate and rebound to finish the possession.
Selflessness will determine how effectively all the talent fits together. With several players capable of scoring, the Lady Huskies must avoid becoming overly concerned with individual touches. The offense will be at its best when players share the basketball, make quick decisions, and remain willing to create opportunities for one another.
Relentlessness and toughness will be revealed when games become physical, shots stop falling, or opponents make runs. Hewitt-Trussville must remain connected and continue competing through adversity.
What Will It Take for Hewitt-Trussville to Win State?
The answer from the program is simple but significant: consistency.
The Lady Huskies have experience, scoring versatility, perimeter shooting, playmaking and defensive potential. The challenge will be producing those qualities every possession, every quarter and every game.
Championship consistency means defending with the same intensity regardless of the opponent. It means rebounding as a team, taking care of the basketball, and maintaining offensive discipline. It also means staying committed to ball movement when individual players are capable of creating their own shots.
The senior trio of Ryeigh, Lauren, and Layla will be responsible for establishing that standard. Their leadership must help keep the team steady through the inevitable challenges of a long season. Caycee, Livie, Sophie, and Hannah will also have important responsibilities as the Lady Huskies develop a complete and dependable rotation.
Hewitt-Trussville possesses the personnel to play fast, spread the floor, and pressure opponents defensively. If the Lady Huskies consistently embody the selflessness, relentlessness and toughness emphasized by Coach Alexander, they have the potential to become a formidable postseason opponent and place themselves in the state championship conversation.
