Dayton Shootout- Class of 2020

Over 100 kids from five states all came together at Bethel High School near Dayton, Ohio recently to produce a solid day of basketball in front of close to 40 college coaches in house, and hundreds who have access online to watch the incredible talent at the Dayton Shootout. The state’s top girls basketball fall event was held and over the next several days, I will look at several of the players who shined and performed well in front of their peers. Today, a look at some of the 2020s who did some good things as they were looking to secure a chance to play at the next level. CLASS OF 2020 Gabby Kline, 5-10 Northmont- Gabby runs the floor very well, and will hustle and get after it on defense. One improvement for her to to look to score more and be an offensive threat. She will have a lot of good experience for Northmont this season. Solid rebounder and a good floor leader. Ashley Tudor, 5-8 Cincinati Mercy McAuley- Super athletic and should use that to her advantage. Ashleys ability to get out in transition and attack is great. Needs to work on not standing when off the ball on defense. Runs the floor well in transition, but needs to make sure she is under control when dribbling on the fast break. Ashley has recently verballed to D1 Radford University. Bethany Golliday, 5-8 Indian Lake- She displays the ability to play multiple positions. Her size and strength allows her to be able to defend a guard or post, making her hard to guard and match up with on the offensive end. Moves well without the ball and very effective in crashing the boards. Keep working on developing an outside shot and attacking the basket to become a threat on the offensive end. Kaitlyn McCrary, 5-6 Northmont- Kaitlyn displays all the great qualities of a point guard at the next level. She is quick, handles the ball well, and shows great craft with her moves and passes. Her speed allows her to be quick on the defensive end, as well as locking down an opponent at the top of the key. Keep developing and working on the outside shot. Hope Fetherolf, 5-11 Madison Plains- She is a post player that has the ability to be utilized while running the floor and keeping up with transition. Good power on the inside offensively and defensively when rebounding. Continue working on getting strong with the ball. Trisa Porter, 5-8 Tri Village- Shows a great ability to handle the ball in the front court. She can come off a screen or off the dribble to shoot a nice pull up jumper. Good shooter to be a threat to her defenders from the outside. Continue working on becoming quicker and staying on balance when shooting. Haleigh Behnken, 5-7, Greenville- Already verballed to Edison State College, Haleigh is a very active guard with excellent hands to distrupt the opposing offense. Solid handles, moves well without the ball, and can drive to the rim. Not afraid to launch from behind the arc. [player_tooltip player_id="89269" first="Abby" last="Jones"], 5-10, Jonathan Alder- Her stock has really risen this summer, and is drawing interest from D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO schools from arounf the region. Excellent perimeter player, but also score from the inside. Strong physical player who has a good court IQ. Kasey Schipfer, 5-9 Mechanicsburg- Another player who should thrive at the next level. Whoever gets her will get a steal. Excellent court presence and can score from anywhere. Sees the floor well on the break, can find the better shot, or finish herself.
