Colorado Basketball Club – one of the elite club programs in the Rocky Mountain Region – announced on Tuesday that it will be switching shoe deals from its Adidas sponsorship and will join the Under Armor circuit for 2020. The move, according to CBC cofounder Tammy Neuhaus, was motivated by regional advantages the Under Armor circuit provides the CBC recruits.
“Primarily the circuit locations on the West Coast were better for us,” Neuhaus said. “Under Armor nationals are in Las Vegas and we will attend a tournament in Anaheim (Calif.) in May. A high percentage of our kids go to the West Coast so we wanted them to be able to play there. Our priority is to do what’s best for our club and for our kids.”

Statistically, 70 percent of CBC’s players in recent years have elected to play collegiate basketball in the West. Another 18 percent have elected to play in the Midwest. On the Under Armor circuit, CBC will play tournaments in Pennsylvania, Indianapolis and Las Vegas, giving them the opportunity to play on the East Coast, West Coast and in the Midwest.
CBC’s talent pool contains some of Colorado’s best players including already-committed Division I recruits like Jana Van Gytenbeek (Stanford), Cali Clark (Colorado State) and Makayla Hemingway (Colorado State).
Along with CBC’s departure from Adidas, another Denver-based grassroots program will be taking its place. A relative newcomer but already boasting some of Colorado’s top talent, Hardwood Evolution announced on Monday that it is joining the Adidas circuit in 2020. Harwood Evolution signing a major shoe deal increases the number of shoe-sponsored clubs in the Denver area, along with BC Denver (Under Armor) and Premier (Nike), which has the potential to increase exposure for the area’s talent.
“I think what’s most important is making sure our kids are attending the right events and that they’re getting exposure in the areas where they want to play in college,” Neuhaus said. “The shoe sponsorships are great because they provide the ability to play in the circuits. There are many really strong independent tournament but the more local kids we can get in those circuits, the better exposure they will get because coaches go there to scouting.”
Many of Colorado’s top players like Avery Vansickle (Regis Jesuit), Jenna Siebert (Valor Christian) and Raegan Beers (Valor Christian) played with Hardwood Evolution’s top traveling team this past summer.
