About Mattilyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a defense first player. Moving my feet and playing good defense are my first goals. I like to attack the basketball, make great passes, and shoot 3s and pull up jumpers.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very nice off the court, but on I switch to focus. I am there to play my hardest and win. I will always support my teammates and coach during the game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in Spanish Club and Key Club at my highschool the Marine Academy of Science and Technology. I am apart of the JROTC at my school. I have won second place in the e-Cyber state wide competition.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed leadership qualities through playing basketball on my AAU team, school, and the JROTC. I have also developed the skill of teamwork through playing basketball and school. I aim to participate in tons of community service work through my school and the JROTC.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have had to face and continue to face anxiety through school, but especially sports. I used to not be able to play because my anxiety was so bad. I now know how to better control my anxiety, which allows me to play better.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college with great academics, especially in the environmental field. I’m looking for a school not in a big city.

Matti turned it up down the stretch vs MLPB. She banked in an important bucket late in the second half in a very close battle. Calm under immense defensive pressure. She handled the ball well and used her body as a shield to avoid late-game turnovers. The defense swarmed but she evaded.
