MTCS Lady Cougars: Aiming High This Season

Two colors that sometimes can be misinterpreted. In Murfreesboro, those two colors belong to the Middle Tennessee Christian School Lady Cougars. Cougars, large,powerful cats who hunt their prey. Just like these girls, this upcoming season they will look to hunt throughout their district and reclaim their position in the top half of the district. They are on a mission and are ready to take a swipe at the competition.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Lady Cougars of MTCS finished 2nd in their district in back to back years, however people are writing them off for some odd reason. They return a solid unit of players who have been battling together for some years now. Minus a player or two, this group has done nothing but lace up their shoes and performed night in and night out. Even though the district has shifted just a bit, still the Lady Cougars find themselves on the outskirts for some odd reason. Why? Who knows. Just note that they are using it as fuel for the upcoming season as they gear up to make an impressive run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Led by coach Hannah Jones, she continues to be instrumental in constructing an attacking offense with solid defense. The team possesses multiple ways to score the basketball. Led by junior [player_tooltip player_id='513240' first='Anna' last='Clay Shirley'], this team is poised to make some noise this season. With shooters on the perimeter and being fundamentally sound on the interior, the offense will be solid throughout the course of the season. The defense too will be sound as they do the little things right such as boxing out and being in possession to take charges. They may not be thought of as heavy favorites, but you better believe this team is going to scratch and claw their way through the competition. When she is on, she's on. A very determined individual, she's a multi level scoring threat who is hard to handle as she can put the ball in the bottom of the net in multiple ways. Her game has evolved over the years and she has gained valuable knowledge and experience from being battle tested on many different platforms. This kid is a player and her game speaks volumes. Look for her to be the leading catalyst for the Lady Cougars attack. However, on the offensive end, she can pull it from deep, but attacking from the wing to create is her thing. Look for her to come into the season for the Lady Cougars with something to prove. Had a solid season on the circuit and is ready to take off this upcoming year. Look for her to handle the load as the primary ball handler to facilitate the offense. A smooth ball handler who can get paint touches, finish in the mid-range and around the rim, and of course kick to open teammates for shots. She's impressive on the defensive end. She will sit down and guard, picking up full court, she can pressure the opposition into a turnover.
