One Vital Player From Each Class 5A Team – Part 2

Over the next several weeks, prior to the high school season kicking off, we are going to highlight a prospect on each team throughout the state of Iowa, that is vital to the success of their Varsity program over the next six months. To start things off, we are going to lock in with the biggest Class in the state and that is the 5A Class. In this specific piece, we highlight the schools of Ames, Davenport West, Davenport Central, Ottumwa, Des Moines North, Dowling Catholic, Muscatine, and Council Bluffs - Abraham Lincoln.   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    You can tell when a prospect is serious about Basketball and her future on the court. [player_tooltip player_id='1055307' first='Karsyn' last='Pankonen'] of Ames High School is one of those prospects. Pankonen is a confident shooter, someone that isn't afraid to put it on the floor for a take to the hoop, and she isn't selfish in her actions where she won't pass to open teammates when possible. She would be considered more of scoring guard in my book, always being dangerous on that side of the ball.     Crouse îs a multi-sport athlete, that is used to flying all over the court/field when she is competing. This is someone that gives maximum effort when she is in her zone, never letting up until the final buzzer rings. At the PG position, Crouse has the ball in her hands a majority of the time for her Ottumwa team, giving her the best chances to make a play for herself or someone else on her team that may be open. I'll be in attendance to see Ottumwa compete this Winter and I'm excited to see what Crouse can do for her squad.     Something I like about [player_tooltip player_id='1055310' first='Ellie' last='Holdorf'] and how she plays the game is that she plays off of two feet at all times, while also being someone that is always ready, no matter the situation. Holdorf moves around the perimeter and knocks down shots off the catch or she can create and drive to the bucket. Most of the time it seems like she is more comfortable working off the ball, but she is not afraid to step in and take control with possession. All of this should lead to some more solid numbers for her Senior season over the next six months.     [player_tooltip player_id='777229' first='Goamar' last='Bilim'] slowly came onto the AAU scene over the past six months with her [program_tooltip program_id='712617' first='Lady' last='Pure Prep'] program but I'm sure that won't be the last that we see out of her. Bilim is only a Sophomore and she stands at 6'1 with a ton of future potential out on the floor. Offensively, she is an able scorer near the hoop, with better than average rebounding ability. Defensively, she is a threat to anyone coming near the lane. If they don't pay attention to her on help side in every situation, she is going to have close to boucle digits in blocks by the end of the contest. The Polar Bears are going to have a solid season and the main reason for that is because of Bilim.     I can't say enough about what [player_tooltip player_id='311396' first='Ava' last='Zediker'] means to the Dowling Catholic Maroons Program. A program that is going to be the favorite to start the 2024 - 2025 high school season in their Class by the looks of it in a lot of places. Zediker leads by controlling the game with the basketball. Not to mention, she can shoot the leather off of it from deep, as well as being a fantastic finisher on either side of the rim. Zediker is everything you want in your PG and that's going to be on full display for her last session of high school ball.     By the looks of it, [player_tooltip player_id='1055313' first='Ellie' last='Linehan'] of Davenport Central has been named Athlete Of The Week a number of times over her career and that makes a lot of sense. Linehan also competes on the hardwood at the Forward position, killing it with her mixture of size and athletic ability. This is a player that has a high motor, she is versatile in how she can help her team, and she has shown up all over the stat sheet in the past. All of those things lead to a lot of success on the high school floor. That's been proven in her past thus far and it should continue into the future this Winter.     I like [player_tooltip player_id='748529' first='Macy' last='Reno'] because of her mixture of natural instincts, her mental ability out on the court as a floor general, and her fundamental shooting stroke. For Reno's Senior season, she is going to be their unquestionable leader in a lot of statistical categories. She held her own last season as a Junior and she should be ready to make the most of her final chances of her high school career before things come to a close.     Naughton has been a solid prospect in the recruiting world for a couple seasons now and she is going to play a major role in her team's success this Winter for her Junior season. Naughton is better than average at handling the basketball, she is a solid shooter off of the catch or dribble, she possesses a powerful Will when attacking her defenders, and she seemingly has lengthy arms to get tips/deflections defensively. This Winter a lot of the production will fall on Naughton. An opportunity I'm sure she is excited about looking forward.
