CAK Lady Warriors: Preparing for Championship Glory

They play with a sound mind, a winning spirit, and will fight until the very end. It is only fitting that their mascot is a warrior, which in my mind brings home how this basketball club plays. Fundamentally sound, tenacious defense, they try to win the possession war, they battle. This club has been built with a solid foundation and has a culture of winning.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Speaking of culture, let's take a look at what the CAK Lady Warriors have been doing the last couple of years.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Season Overall Record District Record Tournament Outcome</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2023-2024 26-9 13-1 (1st) Final 4 appearance.Lost by 1 tJ USJ</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2022-2023 29-6 13-0 (1st) Final 4. Lost in OT to MTCS.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2023-2022 29-6 13-0 (1st) Final 4 appearance.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This ball club is definitely doing something right. There is an standards of excellence in that locker room.&nbsp; I will say that they are the hunted and other teams are gearing up to try to knock them off the top spot. That won't be so easily done. This club is tough to handle and they get after it on both ends of the floor. They may not get as much publicity as other schools or have bunches of elite talent walking through the doors, however these girls will go to war with anyone. They play with tons of energy and maximum effort. Put all their talents together and you have one heck of a club that packs a powerful punch.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Led by Coach Abby Williams, these Lady Warriors are tough. The district talent has been rampt up at other schools. Coach Williams has her girls just staying the course, being laser focused on honing in on what they do best. Opponents will try to outmuscle them or use their athleticism, but you won't outwork these girls. This club will do whatever it takes to win a ball club. They are disciplined, adaptable, and selfless ball players willing to do whatever it takes to capture a win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This basketball team will definitely be one of the top four teams to come out of the district. Where? Well that's to be determined. The district has gotten tougher, but this club has a balanced attack coupled with experience. They too have goals and milestones to reach. After three consecutive final 4 appearances, they are looking to get over the hump and bring back a championship to campus. I know it is easier said than done, but these girls are built to do so.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This year won't be easy, but these Lady Warriors have the mental fortitude to withstand anything. This kid can score from all 3 levels, create her own shot off the dribble, or get down hill to finish at the rim. Has a high basketball IQ that enables her to dissect and exploit a defense's weakness. Isn't gun shy at all, and she will pull it from whenever and wherever she feels that she has an advantageous opportunity. This kid is fundamentally sound and will contribute big-time on both ends of the floor. She is a leader, someone who can rally the trips. Look for her to be the X factor for this squad. Big wing who can play inside and out. Has a sweet stroke from the perimeter where she holds that left-handed follow-thru. Will put the ball on the floor to create, aggressive downhill, and will challenge opponents around the rim. She plays with a lot of energy and effort on both ends of the floor. Colie is a big-time contributor who will put up decent numbers all across the board. Blocks, steals, rebounds, points, assists, she is going to check all these boxes. She had a great summer and look for her to carry that momentum into this school ball season. She can score it from multiple spots, hit open teammates with ease, contribute on the defensive end by slowing down the opposition, and rebounding. She is fundamentally sound and does the little things well. She's a coach's dream as she will go out and execute whatever is asked of her. She leaves everything she has on the floor, battling each and every possession, fighting tooth and nail. Karlie is solid with ball in her hands, makes the right reads, and just gets after it. This is her final year so look for her to go out with a bang. This kid is solid on both ends of the floor. She can fill it up from multiple spots on the floor, then turn around and lock up on the defensive end. I love her ability to get steals, block shots, and of course contribute on the boards. She may not be the first or second scoring option, but when her number is called, she is ready to dial it up. She will be tasked with spacing out the floor and knocking down clutch shots from the perimeter. On the defensive end, she will be looked upon to be active by getting steals and deflections.
