Catalina Foothills is off to a fast start

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Clara-Mae Hager (2025) is already off to a fast start in her final year of High School Basketball. For Last year's 5A Southern Region Most Valuable Player and Concordia College commit, this season is more than individual accolades. "Improving everyday whether it's practice or in games, our team goal is to win games," says Hager. Their regular season began with a tough match-up with a local up and coming powerhouse.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On December 4th, the Falcons took on Mica Mountain, one of several top teams in Southern Arizona. Clara-Mae Hager was outstanding in the game, scoring from outside with deep 3-pointers, and electrifying finishes at the basket. She finished with 31 points to help lead Catalina Foothills to the 64-61 victory. Mica Mountain was led by senior Bella Webb, who tallied 21 points for the Thunderbolts. Hager was looking forward to the competition between the two local stars. "Bella Webb is one of the top players in Southern Arizona so it's always fun getting to play great competition at a high level," Hager says. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Catalina Foothills Head Coach Jake Martinez says this year's team is one of his better teams, and could be a team that will advance deep into the 5A Playoffs. Winning their opener against a team like Mica Mt. gets them off to the start they were hoping for. He was also hoping for his Senior Star to get it going early. "I think we came out early with good energy, and Clara-Mae definitely set the tone for us. I was impressed with her conditioning and her defensive tenacity.
