Paisley Collins
About Paisley
Expert Analysis

Paisley was very fortunate to be surrounded by and the beneficiary of excellent guard play this season for Heritage-Catoosa. However without her consistent and impressive play in the post, her team would not have had the incredible season that they did culminating in a state championship. Collins has great size, but her mobility separates her from most post as she moves with purpose and fluidity. Collins sprints the floor in transition as well as any big in the state and she does it non-stop often resulting in her beating her defender down the court and laying the ball up. In the half court, she really operates well on the block posting up and diving to the basket before finishing smoothly off the glass with her dominate left hand. Paisley is an excellent athlete and intense competitor things you can’t teach. She will be a good college player in a couple years, however if she can demonstrate over the next two years that she can consistently knockdown midrange jumpsuits, then she could be a mid-major division one player.

Paisley scored the game-winning hoop in overtime to shock Sandy Creek 65-63, scoring off a back screen for a downhill cutting layup. Collins was efficient against Sandy’s Creek’s length and athleticism, posting 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists while netting 8-11 of her shot attempts. Collins does well playing off two feet in traffic. She’s a patient finisher, skilled with both hands. She gets on the offensive glass well as she snagged five rebounds.

Collins was outstanding for Heritage-Catoosa in the post and her play was a huge reason that she and her team are now state champions. Collins is very efficient scoring on the block. She did a great job moving without the ball, especially diving and ducking into the post from the free throw line as well as establishing good post position sitting down and getting big on the block. Her release is very quick and she uses her body well to create space between her and the defender, in this case

who is one of the best shot blockers in Georgia. Collins was also effective rebounding the ball coming up just short of a double-double finishing the game with 17 points and nine rebounds. She has very good size and strength to go along with good quickness and very soft hands. She is a player whose stock has continued to rise all season long.

Collins could be the difference maker in the game versus Oconee County. The Warriors have excellent guard play, but are a little undersized and could be vulnerable in the paint. Collins has the ability to provide a strong post presence for Heritage if she is given opportunities to score on the block. She has very good footwork and can score in traffic. She establishes good post position by sealing her defender and when she receives the ball attacks the basket quickly and effectively with her left hand. Collins needs to use that length and athleticism to control the boards on both ends and hold down the paint defensively, altering and blocking shots. Collins scoring early could open up shots on the perimeter for her talented teammate and guard

Paisley didn’t get a ton of touches to assert herself inside against Creekview but she positively influenced the game in other ways, namely defensively. Collins finished with 6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks. In the fourth quarter Paisley was able to establish herself around the rim, drawing fouls as she shot 4-4 from the line. Collins is a burgeoning prospect. She has a good frame equipped with length and strength. Paisley is comfortable in the pivot, effective at playing through contact with both hands. The double-double threat should pop up on college radars in due time.

High-motor post with strength, mobility and toughness. Collins crashes the glass hard, finishes with either hand and is developing a reliable lefty hook. Plays with physicality and projects as a consistent double-double threat as her offensive skill set expands.

Up from 61: Collins has had a big summer and continues to rise. She’s a strong, athletic post who moves well and gets off the floor quickly. She rebounds in traffic, scores with both hands, and has a nice lefty hook in her arsenal. Collins plays with physicality and looks like a consistent double-double threat heading into her second year.

I like Paisley’s upside. She’s taller than her older sister and is gifted athletically with a strong frame and quick feet. Collins made an impact on the glass and used her quickness to maneuver her way to guarding multiple spots. Paisley posted 1 point, 7 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 blocks.
