Five By Five: Unranked Talent In Two Kansas Classes

Several players across the Sunflower State have gotten off to quick starts to the prep season.   Here is a look at 10 unranked athletes who have started the season like it was their last. Five are from the Class of 2025 and the other five are in the Class of 2026.   Prep Girls Hoops Player Profiles have been created for each of these prospects. She is averaging 16.5 points and 11 rebounds for the Trojans. She does her scoring inside and has yet to attempt a 3-point field goal. She is cashing in from the free throw line connecting on 9-of-14 free throw attempts.   [player_tooltip player_id='1107854' first='Jennifer' last='Cochrun'], 5'9, SF, Thunder Ridge, ‘25   Longhorn prospect Cochrun has scored seven points per contest and eight rebounds per game for Thunder Ridge. She is getting to the free-throw line early in the season. She has shot 33 times for the charity stripe, but she is shooting just 33 percent from the line. She is almost averaging a double-double scoring 10 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per contest. She is scoring the majority of her points in the paint and in transition.   [player_tooltip player_id='1107858' first='Paige' last='Smith'], 5'9”, PG, Wakefield, ‘25   Wakefield Smith has been lighting up the lamp. In her first two games, she is averaging 20 points per game. She is shooting 65 percent from the field and is chipping in on the glass averaging five rebounds per game. She if filling up her stat sheet early also averaging 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest for the Warriors. In two games for Conway Springs, she has scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and collected 2.5 steals per contest. She is scoring 13 points and grabbing 5.5 rebounds per game. She is shooting 53 percent from the field and 67 percent from the free-throw line. She has the size to play in the paint and the passing skills to lead an offense. Through three games she is averaging 13.3 points and 4.3 assists per game for the Longhorns. In two games, Evans is scoring 12 points per game and grabbing five rebounds per contest. Through three games she is scoring at a clip of eight points per game. She is also averaging 7.3 rebounds, two steals, and two-plus assists.
