Yooper Hoopers: Week Three

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In case you didn't know, there is a vast area of land located on the other side of the Mackinaw Bridge known as Michigan's Upper Peninsula. A ‘yooper' is a resident of the Upper Peninsula and we want to make sure the girl's basketball prospects who play across the bridge are receiving media coverage and recognition as well. Driving to games from Southeast Michigan is a challenge, but each week I will be tuning into games online. My goal is to help college coaches and our Michigan girls' basketball community in the south learn more about the best players in the U.P. She battled for inside position to score offensive rebound putbacks, finished layups, and wreaked havoc defensively. Brooklyn had a near triple-double with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 9 steals. Brooklyn has a smooth perimeter jumper off the hop, draining two triples during an 18 point performance against Baraga. Kiirsi pours in perimeter jumpers for Calumet, knocking down four triples against Hancock. She disrupts offenses with her defensive prowess and creates many steals in the press. Mylee has an accurate 3-point jumper, burying three triples during a 16 point performance against Watersmeet. She turns steals in the press into layups and knows when to make the extra pass to open teammates for assists. Kwynn hustles to block shots and secure rebounds. Her significant all-around performance against Calumet helped secure a 52-51 victory.
