Young Talents Dominate District Championships: A Recap

Last night, the public school sector had their district championship and consolation games around the state. I had an opportunity to speak with coaches who reassured me that this time of year is one of the toughest. If you look at scores from around the league, not all games are blowouts. During this time, games are closely contest bouts that really can go either way. The teams know each other's personnel, strengths, and weaknesses, not to mention the scouting report is more full, it's really a battle of will and wants along with the importance of valuing each and every possession.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As the teams dwindle down forming state tournament brackets, it really starts to get interesting. You do have some teams who have been the powerhouses over the past couple of years. She was hot from the field, scoring it in multiple ways. She put the clamps on her opponent on the defensive end, which led to a few transition buckets. Her creativity allowed her to finish in the paint as well as knock down some clutch shots down the stretch. She too had 24 points and was feeling it from multiple spots on the floor. She shot the ball with confidence, finished plays, contributed on the boards, and brought the energy that helped her team to victory. She is a talented kid who always brings a solid body of work into each game. She was an absolute dawg as she scorched the nets from multiple spots on the floor. Her teammates found her multiple times with the hot hand as she went past, went through, and went around her opponent on the way to the rim. This kid is super tough and performances such as this are what makes her body of work pretty impressive. She finished with 16 points and 9 assists as she and the Lady Bears won their district championship last night. This kid is shifty and is always in attack mode. She can knock it down from the arc, but won't hesitate to put the ball on the floor and finish. She is a selfless leader who first looks to feed the ball to others. When it's her turn, you better understand she's going to go at you hard at full speed. Solid ball player who has grown tremendously over her first year of high school ball. One of the most solid up-and-coming guards in the ‘27 class, she is just a tough competitor who competes from tip to the final whistle. She is a heady ball player who can score from all three levels, but what is impressive is how she scores it and how quietly she does so. She impacts the game in multiple ways beyond filling it up. Her club feeds off her energy and rallies around her as she leads them to victory. Her recruitment journey will be exciting as this kid will be sought after.
