Hoogendoorn is going to follow in the footsteps of some really talented guards to compete at Dordt (NAIA) after this season and I have a feeling that she is going to light it up on that floor with her crafty play-making ability as a PG. When you look at games that she has competed in over the past few years at the high school level, you see that she stuffs the stat sheet in most positive statistical categories. In year’s past she had some help but this season she is leading the way all by herself in sense. Central Lyon has won most of their games this season. They are going to be a favorable spot moving into the Playoffs to make it to the State Tournament. If there is a close contest that comes down to the last play on offense, I’m sure that Hoodendoorn will get the nod to make something happen from her coaching staff. She controls pace of play at a high rate for her position but she is also a threat as a consistent scorer so defenses need to play things perfectly or else it’s going to end in a bucket in one way or another for the Lions. Either way, this is someone that makes the Lion’s go so I expect her hand to be in anything successful that they continue to put together moving forward.

was the best passer on the floor Friday night. She threaded the ball to teammates at tight angles with precision and consistently set them up for open shots. Early in the game she was focused on finding teammates, but in crunch time Hoogendoorn leveled up and called her own number. She dominated the fourth quarter and overtime — pulling up from deep off the dribble, hitting kickout jumpers, hitting all her free-throws, you name it — Danika did it all. My favorite play from Hoogendoorn was a shot fake, drive middle, spin move and finish against MOC-FV’s tallest defender. Her fingerprints were all over the game and her ability to create plays and defend was a key factor in the Lions’ big comeback win.

knew she needed to step up coming into this Winter if they wanted Central Lyon to be a success and that is exactly what she has done. Hoogendoorn has been her team’s #1 leader every step of the way so far this season, blazing them a trail to their success at the halfway point throughout the season. Name it and Hoogendoorn is doing it right now. She is being a first scoring option, a creator, a distributor, a rebounder, a defender, and a great all around teammate to those around her from the looks of it. You’ve heard the expression – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Well Central Lyon shouldn’t fix anything as of right now.

It’s time for Danika Hoogendoorn to take the reins over the Central Lyon program for her Senior year, after following in the footsteps of her sister for the past few. Don’t get me wrong, Danika put up solid numbers in her own right so far throughout her high school career but now it’s time to take things to a whole other level. Hoogendoorn plays the PG/SG position and she should be on pace to have a record breaking season from an individual standpoint. She should average over 15 PPG with 5-7 RPG and 5-7 APG. When you account for all of that, you can tell that this is going to be much more than a role player moving forward. She just has to let the game come to her and the success should follow.
