We are looking for a BIG Winter ahead for Taylor Rypkema of Central Lyon. Last season she was her team’s leading scorer as they went 19-5. She averaged a good amount of points throughout the season as you would imagine but the notable part is that she did it with a high level of efficiency. She shot over 50% from the field and that speaks to what she is going to be able to bring to the floor this season for her Junior year. If she can build off of what she has set in place in the past – she is going to have a Winter to remember and her team is going to win a lot of games. Central Lyon is a program that understands how to dominate down-low. They run great Post action because they have had so many of them in their system in the past so I expect the exact same thing to play out with Rypkema. She will finish out her high school career strong and with a bang. From there, the possibilities at the next level could be ample. We will just have to wait and see.

You have to like the versatile play that Taylor Rypkema brings to the floor whenever she laces up her kicks because she knows how to GO as a Small Forward. Rypkema is a standing 5’10, she has a soft touch on the ball, coordinated balance, she isn’t afraid to get physical with anyone else around her, she is efficient in whatever she is trying to accomplish, and she has discipline to stay down on shot attempts or pump fakes defensively. She has already had State appearances with her Central Lyon High School program and she competes for a well-known AAU program in Team Warwick, that is going to bring attention to her game on the road. When you combined all of these factors together, you get someone that could have a ton of momentum moving into the college level one day as long as she stays dedicated to the process.

. Rypkema has the strength and size to finish in the paint and the range to keep defenders honest from deep. I like her game a lot — I think her pick and roll game is truly underrated and she knows how to make an impact no matter what the defense throws at her. One of my favorite aspects of Rypkema’s game is how he sets hard screens and rolls into open space at the right pace for her teammates to get her the ball. From the perimeter she’s also dialing in at 41% from three, making her a serious multi-level threat for Central Lyon. She’s second on the team in scoring at 15 points per game and she has that unteachable will to win that the Lions will need to make a deep tournament run.

‘s length and touch at the rim was instrumental in Central Lyon’s big comeback, and later, their victory. She was the best sealer on the floor last night — I loved her determination to get position on defenders and provide clear passing lanes for guards. Once Rypkema had the ball, she knew what to do with it. She finished 5/7 on 2-point field goal attempts and finished the game with 14 points. She converted a handful of finishes off of strong rolls to the basket and threw in crafty jab step + back cut to leave her defender in the dust for two. Normally shooting 65% from the free-throw line, Rypkema stepped up and came in clutch by sinking all four of her attempts from the stripe.
