I’m not sure a lot of people would have predicted Oregon City, which went 14-11 last season and does not have a player taller than 5’9″ on its roster, to be one of seven undefeated 6A teams entering late December. But they are, and the 5’7″ Carns is a major reason why. This is a perfect example of a natural wing sliding inside and excelling. She is a natural passer and has a great understanding of where her teammates are, so coach Kevin Baumbach is deploying Carns at the free-throw line as an offensive hub. Alixe hasn’t been a volume shooter, but she is incredibly efficient from all three levels. Defensively, she picks off a ton of passes while executing the Pioneers’ aggressive full-court press.

She led the club team in assists and earned an offer from Lewis & Clark in late July. Carns is the kind of player who is hard to take off the court. She gets back on defense, she rebounds, she slashes, she drives, she finishes through contact. Carns leads by her actions and is a valuable utility player who can plug in wherever needed, whether running the offense or defending the mismatch disadvantage. She is a creative playmaker who finds the open teammate no one else sees. She’s also finding her shot from the pull-up midrange to the catch-and-shoot three. She put in competitive reps this summer to improve her on-ball guard defense. Carns should be a top contributor at the 2 or 3 for Oregon City her senior year.

Oregon Overtime Heat 17U 5-foot-7 guard Alixe Carns Alixe Carns 5'7" | SG Oregon City | 2026 State OR is a leader on the court who played hard on both ends against the top team, Cal Stars 17 EYBL, at the End of the Trail NW Showcase. Carns hustled back on defense to block the transition layup. She won tough defensive rebounds, pushed the pace, and brought the ball up herself to run the offense. Carns had nice drives and finished on both sides of the rim. She put in the extra effort to get the ball up for the and-1 as she was falling away from the basket. She hit the catch-and-shoot three.
