My AAU season kicks off this weekend in Romeoville, Illinois. More Wisconsin kids and teams are playing down there this weekend than I can remember in my three years at the event. Since the event isn't a live period, meaning no D1 schools can attend in person. I wanted to highlight a few kids for D2s, D3s, NAIAs, and JUCOs to watch at the event. Today, we'll look at 16U kids to keep tabs on.

The Kettle Moraine Lutheran guard took a significant step forward this season. The Charger is tailor-made for the identity KML has built over the past few seasons. In her first season, she was passive on the offensive end of the floor, but this season, she looked more aggressive and played with more confidence. Lauer never hesitated when she found room to get a shot off, and she used her speed to attack the rim. I love her energy on the defensive end of the floor, and that scrappiness will generate some attention from people at the next level at some point.

After the senior class at Milton graduates, Buttchen is the kid with the most potential. Her ability to make things happen off the dribble and scoring at all three levels set her apart. She's a solid athlete who plays multiple sports, but we saw what she could do at times this season, and she'll be one to watch in the Badger-Large next season. I'm a fan of what Buttchen could do. She'll be one to watch with her Let it Rain-Davenport group.

The Beaver Dam wing has a set role with the Golden Beavers, and she does it well. Gonzalez defends on the perimeter at a high level and knocks down perimeter jumpers. I thought she showed some positive flashes during the high school season and will be someone that coaches will be interested in seeing at some point. Small Schools will steer clear now, but she'll have opportunities to play at the next level.

2024-25 was the first season I didn't watch a Milwaukee Academy of Science game. However, I still caught a few of their games on stream. I've always been a fan of what Guy could do on the defensive end of the floor and was intrigued by what she could be on the offensive end of the floor. In 2024-25, Guy took a step forward on the offensive end in terms of her consistency, and I'm eager to watch her for the first time in close to a year.
