MICHIGAN STATE TOURNAMENT: 13U All-Tourney Team

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the unique benefits of our Michigan State Tournament was that every age group and travel club had an equal opportunity to be seen, evaluated, and covered by our Prep Girls Hoops Michigan scouting team, with all teams playing a minimum of four games at the same fieldhouse (several teams played five games). College coaches and Midwest Recruiting Resource were in the building both days, which amplified the quality of the experience for the teams and athletes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Our championship bracket format allowed teams from every age group to compete for the ultimate prize of Prep Girls Hoops Michigan State Tournament Champion. She crossed over multiple defenders going full-speed the length of the floor to score a floater and dropped another tough floater in the bucket through contact. Olive used a quick jab step to freeze her defender, then blew by to cause a foul and earn free throws-drained both. Olive converted many free throws throughout the tournament with balanced feet and a high-arc. She worked hard on defense, dished out crisp passes, and gave the team a strong rebounding presence on both ends. Leah knocked down three-point shots, exploded downhill with a burst to the basket, finished layups in traffic, and was an excellent passer. One of my favorite plays from Leah was late in the championship game when the opposing team tried to roll the ball down the court. She sprinted up and leaped on the ball to wrestle for it--I love that competitive toughness! Leah defended the opposing team's best player, and dribbled with a burst to drop in a runner over a contesting defender. She helped [program_tooltip program_id='713450' first='REAL' last=''] Austin 13U to a 4-0 record and Championship trophy! She applied pressure on defense to cause turnovers, buried wing threes off the catch, and pushed the ball with pace in transition. One of her eye-popping plays was a full-court dribble in top gear that ended with a strong and-one finish. Jaylin used her length to create steals throughout the weekend and finished another transition layup in top gear after securing the defensive board. Her impact helped [program_tooltip program_id='713450' first='REAL' last=''] 13U Austin to a 4-0 record and Championship trophy. Her elusive ball-handling, downhill scoring, shooting off the dribble, creativity as a passer, and defensive presence were essential to the team's success. Kayla led [program_tooltip program_id='1239744' first='Next' last='Play'] 13U to the Championship game and a 3-2 record, with both losses coming against undefeated [program_tooltip program_id='713450' first='REAL' last=''] 13U Austin. Kayla has advanced development as a ball-handler and finisher with both hands, which, combined with her speed, is a lethal combination. I expect to see Kayla break out at the high school level in 2026. She made extra passes to create open looks for teammates and finished a strong and-one layup with her left hand off two feet. Reese battled inside to secure rebounds on both ends of the court and finished put-backs in the paint. She was a major factor in the team's Championship victory and 4-0 record.
