Windmill City Weekend Shootout: Byron's Day 1 Standouts (Pt 1)

One of the toughest kids that I watched at this event. Carter has no off button, and the energy she plays with doesn't change if it's offense or defense. She's a true combo guard and a player who can be a strong complementary player to a program.     Brown has grown at least 2 inches over the past year, and the skillset has progressed with it. Her footwork is sharp, soft touch around the rim, she never seems rattled even when she's doubled or getting fouled in the paint. She is nowhere near her ceiling, and the chances of her being one of the best players in this class are not far-fetched.     Thompson is the offensive focal point of this Plainfield East team, but seeing her add more of a passing package is great to see. In the game I caught against Mahomet-Seymout, she was able to set up a handful of her teammates for easy buckets.     Minooka is going to benefit greatly from the addition of Sadie. She is one of the fastest guards in the state, with or without the ball, and she knows how to have pace as well. From an offensive standoint she can get it going from every angle, and isnt afraid to score from the outside.     If you need a Swiss army knife type of player, then Makalyla can fit the bill. She is versatile, strong, and has no fear of anything on the court. She also has the enforcer personality, where she's the go-to muscle on the defense side.
