June is typically a month on the basketball calendar where top-tier talents get a bit of a break from the rigors of the AAU schedule and get a glimpse of what their high school teams will resemble when play tips off for real in November.

With the arrival of July means the return of those grassroots schedule rigors, but Lexington hosted one final June event prior to club play resuming. The Wildcats hosted a one-day play day event at Pleasant Hill MS with teams mostly from higher classifications taking part.

We at Prep Girls Hoops also made the drive out to the home court of the Pleasant Mill Cougars to take in the proceedings. After breaking down the guard play we saw, we now turn our attention to those who were ferocious in the frontcourt.

Collegiate offers have been pouring in as of late for Lexington's interior leader and she displayed again exactly why at Pleasant Hill MS. One of the early games on the schedule involved the Wildcats and the Bearcats of 5A Rock Hill. Anderson was a consistent matchup problem for Rock Hill with her ability to convert on high-percentage baskets close to the rim and turn offensive rebounds into two-point putbacks. Anderson also plays defense effectively with her hands outstretched near the rim. She is a reason as to why Lexington has put together impressive performances throughout June.

Speaking of veteran stars that are earning collegiate offers, White once again displayed the talents of a college prospect on Thursday at Pleasant Hill MS. One of Dorman's games that day was opposite another 5A team in J.L. Mann. It appeared whenever she had the ball in the low post, she was a matchup problem that the Patriots could not do anything about. When one is 6-foot-4 as White is, a team will have the advantage in the paint more often than not. She is also an on-court leader for her team and understands that playing in the interior means getting physical and attracting plenty of attention from defenses.

Those that have watched Richardson develop over the years understands what one will get from her – and why she is a reason 5A J.L. Mann is one of the most dangerous teams in the Palmetto State. A versatile talent, she can make plays from the open court as if she were a guard but also get the job done a bit closer to the rim playing in the frontcourt – appropriate for a wing player. Making passes and a high basketball IQ are two other elements to her overall game. Richardson nearly averaged a double-double for last season's Patriots version - 10.9 points and 9.6 rebounds plus 2.9 steals.

White is the quintessential definition of why basketball is more than gaudy stats and flashy plays. She may not always light up a scoreboard to the extent others do, but she does plenty of the little things that will help a team get in the win column more often than not. White is a multi-sport athlete who also participates in varsity volleyball alongside her basketball pursuits. She stands at 5-foot-11 and can get herself in position to corral her fair share of rebounds. White also combines length with height which can enable her to clog up an opposing team's passing lanes.
