Blate played much bigger than her size on the glass, consistently outworking taller defenders to secure critical extra possessions. Defensively, her persistent pursuit of 50/50 balls disrupted the opponent’s offensive rhythm. Offensively, played within herself and let the game come to her while consistently making highly intelligent plays.

Blate was last seen by me at the Houston Summer Slam where I love yelling “What the Chuck” to keep everyone guessing see evaluations here, but she’s still a #sizedontmatter guard who finds ways to make things happen. Blocking shots at her size paints the picture; so did her “taking the baseline away” from the offensive player, as well as playing “in your face” defense

Blate is yet another one of those “never takes a play off” players, and looking back at her previous evals see evaluations here , that’s just who she is and what she does. She understands how to read the screen, as well as the floor to play the passing lane, but watching her dive for loose balls is #THROWBACK. She also attacked the basket strongly and finished after contact

Blate is heady and takes good shots, and watching her not only create her shot under pressure, but also show she could drop it while being defended was nice. Her pull-up jumper looked good; she even showed the step back to drop it. She attacked the basket to score or dish; her crossover looked good, but she saw the floor well in the set as well as in the open court. Her “on the ball” defense was solid as she brought heat on both ends of the court and helped force turnovers
