About Christa

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a defensive-minded point guard who takes pride in locking down her matchup and bringing intensity every possession. Known for my on-ball pressure, hustle, and high basketball IQ, I play with confidence and energy on both ends of the floor. I’m a team-first player who doesn’t force shots and consistently looks to make the smart pass when teammates have the better opportunity.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m highly competitive, coachable, and driven to improve every time I step on the court. I brings energy, leadership, and a strong work ethic to my team while staying focused and composed under pressure. My mentality is team-first, and I take pride in being dependable, disciplined, and giving maximum effort on both ends of the floor.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Currently play AAU basketball for Pro Skills Houston 16U NE2K and also competes in flag football. . During freshman year of high school, I earned playing time across the freshman, JV, and varsity levels, showing my versatility, work ethic, and ability to compete at a high level.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills through competing in basketball and flag football. As a point guard, I understand the importance of leading by example, staying composed under pressure, and keeping my teammates involved and motivated. I’ve also developed discipline, accountability, and a strong work ethic both on and off the court.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges was adjusting to being moved between freshman, JV, and varsity basketball during freshman year. While the experience helped me grow as a player, it also challenged my confidence due to constantly adapting to different roles, competition levels, and playing time. Through it all, I continued to stay committed, work hard, and develop mentally.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a strong women’s basketball program, competitive atmosphere, and a coaching staff that will continue to develop me both on and off the court. Some schools currently interested in include Duke,Texas State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball, and Houston Cougars.

Blate is heady and takes good shots, and watching her not only create her shot under pressure, but also show she could drop it while being defended was nice. Her pull-up jumper looked good; she even showed the step back to drop it. She attacked the basket to score or dish; her crossover looked good, but she saw the floor well in the set as well as in the open court. Her “on the ball” defense was solid as she brought heat on both ends of the court and helped force turnovers
