Last weekend, in Appleton, we had our third PGH Freshman Showcase. I enjoy seeing the new faces of high school basketball before the season, and plenty of players at the event will make their mark on the high school season this winter. Today, we're discussing all the players from Team Three of the 5v5 portion of the event and highlighting what they brought to the floor. We'll keep this up until we wrap up all ten 5v5 teams that played at the Freshman Showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='1224779' first='Aubrey' last='Mlada']

Mlada was an active defender who made plays on that end of the floor. She was a player I watched play on the defensive end, and I noticed how focused she was on that end, which meant that she could read the game at a high level. I also loved how much she was willing to move the ball on the offensive end of the floor and get her teammates involved. She'll be a player her coaches and teammates like having around.

Sofia Paldrmic

The wing is a rangey player who has plenty of room to develop as a player. However, she does show flashes of a player who can make plays on both ends of the floor, especially on the defensive end. Her length is something that could help her earn some minutes early in her high school career. I thought she defended well around the rim and made plays on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1276077' first='Samantha' last='Stocks']

Stocks did a solid job of handling the ball under pressure and showing composure when defenders tried to force mistakes out of her. She also showed some speed and burst with the ball in her hands. That allowed her to make plays off the dribble. She kept defenders on their back foot, and as she continues to develop, she'll exploit more as she matures as a player. Her speed could help her find a role for a Germantown program that loves to fly around both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1227848' first='Alyanna' last='Moore']

Moore is a skilled ball handler who protected the ball well and showed she could get downhill and put pressure on the basket. Moore has a knack for putting pressure on defenses when the ball is in her hands. She also defended well and knocked down some perimeter shots. However, if she continues to find ways to pressure and punish defenses, she has a chance to be a player who could take her team to another level in her four years in high school. She's a name to know.
