PGH Freshman Showcase: Team 2 evaluations, part 1

Over 90 freshmen attended this year's Freshman Showcase at Maple Grove Jr. High, truly making it an exciting event. Join me as I provide detailed player-by-player evaluations. Here's the first part of the assessments for Team 2.    Grosse is a true gamer and a natural leader who consistently imposes her will on the game in multiple ways. She displayed her deep shooting range and got to her spots on the floor with ease. During the showcase, her leadership was evident – she led by example and set the tone for her teammates. Her ability to deliver sharp, on-target passes was impressive, showcasing excellent vision and feel. Each time she steps into the gym, her game continues to expand and elevate.     LaValley was flat-out fun to watch during the PGH Freshman Showcase. She's long, quick, and constantly looking to create opportunities. Her ability to slither through the lane and use her 5'10" frame to finish on the opposite side of the rim was a thing of beauty. If defenders relaxed, she wasted no time pulling up from deep to make them pay. On the defensive end, her length naturally disrupts opponents, making it difficult for them to get quality looks. A true dual threat who impacts the game on both ends of the floor.     Jacobs delivered one of the most impressive performances of the entire showcase. In her opening game, Teagan showcased her creativity with a Euro-step down the lane, switching hands mid-air to draw contact and earn a trip to the line. That level of skill carried throughout the day. Equally impressive was her defensive presence – she blocked multiple shots with her off hand, recording at least five denials. Add in her smooth outside shot, strong communication, and tireless work ethic, and you can clearly see something special in the making.     During the PGH Freshman Showcase, Berken displayed a little bit of everything – from her deep shooting range to her ability to attack off the dribble and put constant pressure on the defense. She also showed an underrated skill in her ability to pass off the bounce, a tool few players truly master. On the defensive end, she's solid and gives consistent effort, which goes a long way. Berken's well-rounded game makes her a valuable presence on both ends of the floor.     Oyesanmi (pictured above) was a new face for me at the showcase – and she quickly made a lasting impression. Her rare blend of power and finesse stood out right away. When attacking the paint, she floated through the lane with defenders bouncing off her, finishing with a soft touch despite heavy contact. At just 5'8", she consistently played much bigger, impacting the game inside and out. The Tartan product also stretched the floor, shooting from beyond the arc with both confidence and consistency. Definitely a player to keep an eye on.
