Elite Middle Schools Basketball Classic: Guards

As middle school basketball season moves forward, I like to see teams and players progressing. The team's system should become more refined. The players should be in better condition and more comfortable in their roles.    Bon Lin looked like a completely different team from my first time watching them to my second time during the Elite Middle Schools Basketball Classic. It was really easy for me to see more of each player's role on the team.   ICYMI: <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2025/11/elite-middle-schools-basketball-classic-forwards/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Forwards Evaluation</a>   Here are my evaluations on 2 Bon Lin Guards:     High Motor Guard. She is one of their leaders on the floor and the primary ball handler. She scores a lot of her buckets from attacking with  a floater shot. My unofficial stats had her with 11 points.      Pesky Defender. She was one of the smallest players on the floor, yet, she plays a big role. She harasses the ball handler on defense. And when she gets the ball, it's hard to catch her because she is fast with it in her hand.     This was my first opportunity to watch MBA HH. They have one player that really stood out.    Shooter, Shooter!  If she had an inch of daylight, she was knocking the shot down. She has three range. She can shoot the mid range jumper. Offense isn't her only skill. She is very good at anticipating for steals. I had her down with 4 steals.      The game between Kate Bond and Arlington was a defensive matchup. Bodies were all over the place in the 1st quarter.    Kate Bond plays suffocating defense and it all starts with Shiane Mossett.     Defensive Specialist. She is a corner back and safety all in one. She anticipates very well and has long arms to take a ball from a smaller player.  She has a quick first step  that she uses both defensively and offensively. I charted her with an impressive 8 steals for the game.    Arlington has their own defender in [player_tooltip player_id='1353772' first='Campbell' last='Coleman'].    Shooting Guard. Campbell has a strong frame with quick hands. She is a pesky defender on the ball and off the ball. If the ball is within her range, she is going for it. She just took the ball from players 3 times in the game. She is a two way player. She showed her mid range pull up and three point shot.     I was able to get another opportunity to look at a player, Milania McKinney, that I had seen previously in the Pre Season Play Day.    I really got a good look at Milania's size. She is a legit 5'9+ guard by my eye test. She was in better condition and swallows her opponent with her size and arm length on D.  She actually played point today. Showing more of her leadership, 3 point range, mid range shot and ball handling in the open court.    Appling was one of the teams that I wanted to get an early look at. This gave me an opportunity to see players I had seen during the Fall League season within their team system.     Point Guard. Is a very vocal PG that communicates with her team and slows them down when necessary. She can attack to draw defenders and pitch out to her teammates. She also gets her own shots from the 3, midrange or at the basket.     Rebounding Guard. I was able to see more of Emma's game beyond being an attacker. She is a rebounding guard that plays with high energy. Attacking isn't the only thing she does. She does have 3 point shooting range also.    I also got the opportunity to watch another player from the Fall League season, [player_tooltip player_id='1310935' first='Jonaeya' last='Williams'].    She played off the ball for White Station. She is quick in the open court and has vision to find teammates in transition. She has a strong frame, hustles and has a quick release on her shot behind the 3 point line.
