Principia: The Panthers enter the season as one of the every favorites to win the Class 3 state championship. They looked the part in their impressive victory over St. Vincent. The Panthers displayed their depth as they unleashed their relentless pressure defense.

Principia was led by 6'2" 2027 forward [player_tooltip player_id='791650' first='Dasia' last='Scott'], who scored 18 points. She played very little in the first half as she picked up two early fouls. In the second half, she got busy as she scored 14 of her points, including multiple 3-pointers. In her absence, the Panthers did not miss a beat as they turned to their defense with many players playing big roles in the victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='897772' first='Loganne' last='Love'] is a 2028 guard finished with 14 points. The 5'5" Love was knocking down 3-pointers, setting the defense and distributing the ball. Another 2028 guard who was making things happen was [player_tooltip player_id='999534' first='Nadia' last='Bateman']. She played tenacious on-ball defense and her acceleration in the open court to get buckets was excellent. [player_tooltip player_id='1113133' first='Paige' last='Ivy'] is a 5'9" 2028 forward who had 10 points and eight rebounds. She entered the game when Scott left with the early fouls and was a big factor with her athleticism and high activity. I was also impressed with 2026 guard Nya Walker, who had some strong offensive rebounds and effective drives off the rip through.

St. Vincent: The Indians had a rough go of it against Principia's pressure, but they are poised for another big season where they will contend for another Final Four. Many of the players are coming off a state championship in volleyball.

As usual, the Pirates were paced by the 2026 Rubel twins. [player_tooltip player_id='317351' first='Brie' last='Rubel'] scored 12 points to lead St Vincent. The 5'10 guard hit two 3-pointers and did most of the ball-handling. [player_tooltip player_id='317336' first='Kate' last='Rubel'] is a 6'1 forward who scored eight points with much of her damage being done down low. Lana Adams is a unique 5'6 2026 forward.

Farmington: The Knights have an excellent team full of talented young players. They are going to be good for awhile. The leader of pack is 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='876227' first='Kate' last='Jenkerson'], who was a key player on last year's district championship team. She showed the ability to score from all three levels along with some excellent passing skills. She has a very good feel for the game. She is joined in the backcourt by 2027 point guard Trinidy Brumley, who has very good quickness and 3-point shooting ability. She hit three triples in the victory over Seckman.

Potosi: The Trojans are a sophomore-laden group that looked very impressive in their victory over Cape Central. They had a pretty nice inside-outside combination in 6'0" 2028 forward [player_tooltip player_id='1231708' first='Eden' last='Robart'] and 2028 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1279220' first='Chloe' last='Rowe']. Robart is a very athletic post player who can score in the post and also operate from 15 feet in. Rowe had a big performance with 27 points. She is a three-level scorer who also has a high basketball IQ. Sabyn Brown is another 2028 guard who really impressed with her passing ability. She is a good all-purpose player. Presley Smith is a 2028 guard who was good in transition. She also jumped the passing lane for a couple of steals for layups.

Seckman: The Jaguars feature some impressive size at key positions. In the post, they have 6'3" 2028 center [player_tooltip player_id='1112273' first='Mollie' last='Bailey']. She drew a crowd of Farmington defenders every time she touched the ball in the post. She did a nice job of passing out of the double team. She seals well and she can score with an effective drop step. [player_tooltip player_id='1308669' first='Julia' last='Pfau'] is a 6'0" 2027 guard who has good handles and can facilitate offense well. She can also score with a nice runner or a 3-point shot. Guard Payton Bantle gave the Jaguars some good 3-point shooting off the catch.

Cape Central: The Tigers have some talented players on hand as they look to put together a solid season. There is pretty good talent in the backcourt with 2029 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='874837' first='Kayden' last='Kirn'] and 2027 guard Jamie Dawson-Ibe. Kirn is a quick guard who can shoot the 3-pointer and create her own shot off the dribble. Dawson-Ibe is a slashing southpaw who was making things happen at both ends of the court. Abby Davenport is a 2026 guard who can knock down open 3-pointers. She hit a pair of triples in the first quarter against Potosi.
