Congratulations to first year head coaches, Coach Herbert Payne (Whitehaven) and Coach Maurice Burton (White Station) for leading their teams to the MLK Championship game. Both teams came into the championship game with undefeated records.

Whitehaven had White Station down by as many as 17 points early in the 3rd. However, White Station would not go away. They chipped the deficit to 2 before losing by 3 points.

Whitehaven has a veteran squad. They start 4 seniors including Tournament MVP and Mercer commit, Jayla Wilson.

Versatile Forward. The senior finished the championship game with a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds. She is a high motor player and super energetic. Some of her baskets came from simply beating others down the floor for the transition pass. The championship game was her best offensive game I've seen by her. She is so athletic and plays so fast. She knocked down a three.

White Station is a scrappy team. They're going to shoot a lot of 3s. It wasn't easy for White Station to get to the MLK Championship game. They had to come from behind in the semifinal. Kendall does a lot for White Station. She starts the game as their primary ball handler. She can get to the basket at will and will shoot the 3 ball. She'll move to the block extended area to post up a smaller guard or for a turnaround jumper over a big. Congratulations to first year head coaches, Coach Herbert Payne (Whitehaven) and Coach Maurice Burton (White Station) for leading their teams to the MLK Championship game. Both teams came into the championship game with undefeated records.
