Versatile Post. I have never mentioned this. I know Jala’s mom and I used to play basketball with her mom. Jala runs and plays just like her mom to me. LOL. Jala’s mom is like a hybrid guard/post. I loved playing with her mom, because if I ran with her or kept moving in the half court, her mom was going to get me the ball. The Mercer Signee is a lot taller than her mom. However, she has guard tendencies at her size and vision. She will handle the ball in the open court. Jala can face up, play back to basket and also stretch the floor to the three point line. She finds teammates while being double and triple teamed.

Jala Wilson Jala Wilson 6'2" | PF Whitehaven | 2026 State TN has been a consistent contributor on offense for Whitehaven all season.
This year, in 10 logged games, she has scored eight or more points. Also, like her teammate Moore, she is a great rebounder. She is constantly dominating the glass, as seen in a game against Houston High School, where she had 10 rebounds.
Wilson has a presence in the paint that requires constant attention. Her ability to get buckets in the interior has the capacity to change games, as proven already this season. It will be exciting to see how the Merecr commit, and her teammates cap off their year in what will be Wilson’s final year of high school hoops.

Versatile Post. Watching Jala in the semifinal and championship game gave me an opportunity to see more of her skill set. First is her patience. Jala faces a lot of double and triple teams and she remains patience. Not only that – she has the patience and ability to pass out to open teammates while being doubled and triple teamed. She can score back to basket. She can make the mid to high post shot. She will also finish with a spin, if she attacks to the basket.

Versatile Stretch Post – Jala faced triple teams at the Jamboree. She is a huge presence on the floor. She can handle the ball in open court to start transition and on the perimeter. She uses a shot fake to attack from the 3 point line. She is a shot blocker and does a great job at walling up on defense. She clears the paint out finding bodies on rebounds.

This young lady’s stock has skyrocketed. After having a super summer, she committed to Mercer earlier this school year. Jala is a kid who can exploit the mid-range, finish around the rim, and contribute on both ends of the boards. She brings a workman-like mentality into the fold, which is something Mercer loved about her game. She will be looked upon to lead Whitehaven as they carve out their position against a talented region. Look for Jala to be in the mix for being one of the top kids in her district. Solid talent who is still growing.
