Some have emerged through excellent senior campaigns, others are popping up at smaller schools that receive less exposure or have been injured this season, and many of them probably should have already been in the rankings to begin with.
Here are five more seniors who entered the PGH Colorado rankings on Monday, and where they’re at with the bulk of their final prep regular seasons in the books.
Melissa Cooke, 5-2, SG, Vista PEAK
On one of the state’s best teams, Cook has remained a quiet contributor but has always found a way to impact games. Next season she’ll be headed to Wooster, where she will also play golf as a multi-sport athlete. So far in 2019-20, Cooke is averaging 3.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, two assists and 1.3 steals, and has hit some big shots for the Bison this winter while shooting 33 percent (20 for 60) from 3-point range.
Cooke enters the 2020 rankings at No. 86
Katelynn Ralston, 5-10, F, Cheyenne Mountain
Ralston has been a key contributor throughout Cheyenne Mountain’s current 13-7 campaign and has been crushing it to the tune of 13.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. Also an excellent softball player, Ralston will continue to play a major role for the Indians when they hit the state tournament next week.
Ralston enters the rankings at No. 87.
Aiyana Rockwell, 5-7, CG, Peak to Peak
Already signed to play at Grinnell College, Rockwell has been a driving force behind Peak to Peak’s efforts for several years now and the tough-nosed combo guard is averaging 8.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 3.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. Among the top players in Class 3A, it will be interesting to see what she does when things get ratcheted up a notch in the playoffs next week.
Rockwell enters the rankings at No. 91.
Alyssa Hammel, 6-1, C, Moffat
Hammel has been dominant in the paint while leading the Cowboys to a 12-3 record. The 6-foot-1 senior center is among the few 1A players in any statewide rankings, and that’s because she’s averaging 18.3 points, 15.1 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.5 blocks per game, and flat-out dominates the level.
Hammel enters the rankings at No. 95.
Jada Parsons
Jada Parsons, 5-6, CG, Westminster
One of several key contributors helping to lead Westminster on the Wolves’ best season in years, Parsons is the Wolves at the defensive end of the floor and does a little bit of everything from there. Numbers-wise, the senior is averaging 5.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, a time-high 2.8 assists and 4.3 steals per game. The Wolves have already played themselves into the postseason and will need players like Parsons to be on their game if they hope to advance.
Parsons enters the rankings at No. 97.
