As we are within hours of the new year, most Indiana girls' basketball teams are at about the halfway point in terms of the number of games they've played. With that said, I wanted to take a moment to look back at the action from November & December, and to point out some standout individuals from around the state. The below collection of ladies is taking advantage of its time spent at the charity stripe. Some just take what the defense gives them, while others use it as a weapon. Any statistical information listed below is what has been provided through MaxPreps, so if your coaches don't enter information for you, you might be omitted from this article.

Brynn has put together an impressive career for the Austin Eagles, and she's done it in a number of ways, including utilizing the free throw line as a weapon. This season alone, she leads the state right now with 94 makes at 80%. By the time her career is over, she could very well exceed 500 made free throws. Brynn is also closing in on the 2000-point plateau, she has accumulated more than 500 rebounds, more than 325 assists, and nearly 250 steals. This season, she is averaging 25.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 4.0 steals per game.

Joslyn has really turned into a special all-around player for the Warsaw Tigers. She is their primary ball-handler, she brings a lot of patience and poise to the court, but she can also push tempo and create offense in a big way. One of those ways is her use of the charity stripe. She has made 89 free throws this year, good for 85% from the line, and she does such a nice job of drawing contact to earn those attempts. Additionally, she has amassed more than 1500 career points, and this season she's averaging 22.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.9 steals per game.

Maddy has had one of the most productive careers of any member of the 2026 class in Indiana. She does it all, from score the ball in the post, to make jump-shots as deep as the 3-point line, to rebound and defend. One of her weapons offensively is utilizing the free throw stripe. She is shooting 84% from there this season behind 66 makes. Last season she reached as many as 158 made tosses. For her career, she is over 1800 points and 900 rebounds, so she could very well graduate as an exclusive 2000/1000 club member. She's averaging a double-double once again this season (23.8 ppg, 11.4 rpg).

If anyone can compete with, and even surpass, Shirley's (above) production in this 2026 class, look no farther than Laniah Wills. Laniah has been a monster since her Freshman year, when she helped lead Lapel to the State Finals. She is a double-double machine, so athletic, and she has continued to sharpen her skillset as she's gotten older. This season, for example, she's shooting a career-best 84% from the charity stripe while knocking down 76 of them already. For her career, she is already over 2000 points, 1200 rebounds, and she's once again averaging impressive numbers (28.1 ppg, 13.7 rpg) as a Senior.

I have really enjoyed Lilly's versatility over the years, and she has done a nice job of developing different parts of her game simultaneously. Now, she can handle it much better in transition, get the offense started, and shoot it from the perimeter comfortably. Additionally, she is standing out at the free throw line this year, as she has made 91% of her free throw attempts. Being able to take advantage of those trips has helped her average a career best 18.0 points per game, plus she surpassed the 1000-point mark recently. Lilly is also averaging a career-best 9.3 rebounds per game.

Kayla has been a Varsity letter-winner since her Freshman year, but this year she has taken another step and really embraced a leadership role for the Royals. Ever since I can remember, she has had a reputation of being a knockdown shooter. That extends to the free throw stripe. At this time, she is leading those with enough qualifying free throw attempts at 93% from the line. Kayla is over 850 career points and closing in on that 1000-point plateau, plus she's averaging career highs in scoring (15.2 points per game) and rebounding (7.2 rebounds per game).
