It's Senior Tuesday, just like Taco Tuesday, and we're bringing you the heat, giving you the top prospects in the area the parishes can provide for the class of 2026. There are many talented players in the sport of basketball, and a considerable number of unsigned seniors who are deserving of a place on a college team. They are patiently awaiting an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, and at this moment, we wish to highlight these dedicated young women who have diligently honed their skills, perfected their craft, and nurtured their passion for the game. We would like to recognize [player_tooltip player_id='489566' first='Zara' last='Baker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='489578' first='Khia' last='Thomas'] from Parkway High School, [player_tooltip player_id='859289' first='JaLeeyah' last='Alford'] and [player_tooltip player_id='596236' first='Alyssa' last='Randle'] from Sterlington High School, [player_tooltip player_id='1234287' first='Kylise' last='Edgerson'] from Captain Shreve, [player_tooltip player_id='881421' first='Addison' last='McDowell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='947884' first='Kezyriah' last='Sykes'] from Airline High School, and [player_tooltip player_id='489561' first='Journee' last='Johnson'] from Vandbilt Catholic. [player_tooltip player_id='489561' first='Journee' last='Johnson'], wearing number 3, is a versatile player who excels as both a Shooting Guard and Small Forward. She is currently ranked first in her position and fourth in the state rankings. Journee is a significant offensive threat, capable of scoring from all areas of the court. Standing over six feet tall, she demonstrates excellent ball-handling skills and a smooth command of the ball. She is an aggressive attacker, able to drive to the rim and score with either hand. Additionally, she can seamlessly transition to hitting mid-range jumpers and deep three-pointers, showcasing a college-level shooting ability. Journee is a player who can undoubtedly contribute at the next level for any team interested in her talents.     [player_tooltip player_id='859289' first='JaLeeyah' last='Alford'], wearing number 32 for Sterlington, is a Power Forward. JaLeeyah is currently ranked 6th in her position and 25th in the state. JaLeeyah is a talented athlete who excels in both basketball and softball. She is a strong and highly motivated athlete, as well as a team leader for her squad. She is capable of driving to the basket and drawing fouls, or she can adjust her play to sink a mid-range shot, occasionally stepping out to attempt a 3-point shot. She demonstrates excellent footwork and ball-handling skills. She has been playing exceptionally well in her senior year; JaLeeyah was named Down South Sports Magazine Game of the Week MVP after scoring 20 points and securing 13 rebounds, a strong double-double performance.     [player_tooltip player_id='947884' first='Kezyriah' last='Sykes'], wearing number 2 for Airline, is a Small Forward who is currently ranked 4th in her position and 19th in the state. Kezyriah is an exceptional talent, standing over six feet tall, and is also capable of playing as a Shooting Guard when required. She has demonstrated remarkable dedication throughout her basketball career, successfully returning from a knee injury and diligently developing her skills over the years to become one of the state's top players. Kezyriah presents a three-level threat; she is adept at post-play with excellent footwork and can confidently make three-point shots with her smooth shooting style. While her offensive prowess is notable, her defensive capabilities are equally impressive. Kezyriah excels at securing rebounds, protecting the rim, and making steals, showcasing remarkable athleticism for her size. Kezyriah is well-prepared to excel at the next level, and her future performances are certainly worth observing.     [player_tooltip player_id='489566' first='Zara' last='Baker'], a Combo Guard for Parkway, is currently ranked 8th in her position and 31st in the state. Ms. Baker is a highly skilled athlete with good height and size. She possesses the ability to score from all areas of the court and is a proficient shooter, successfully converting most of her shot attempts. Zara is an excellent leader on the court and demonstrates a selfless approach to the game; despite her scoring ability, she prioritizes involving her teammates. Her basketball IQ and understanding of the game are particularly impressive. Ms. Baker is also a capable ball handler, rarely succumbing to pressure and maintaining a low turnover rate. She is capable of defending all positions on the court when necessary, consistently playing with intensity and perseverance. [player_tooltip player_id='489566' first='Zara' last='Baker'] would undoubtedly be a valuable asset to any coach at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='1234287' first='Kylise' last='Edgerson'], a Guard for Captain Shreve, is currently ranked 9th in her position and 34th in the state. Ms. Edgerson is a skilled player, particularly recognized for her defensive prowess. She is an exceptional defender who excels at creating turnovers and converting them into points. Furthermore, she is a well-rounded player, known for her strong finishing at the rim, effective communication on the court, and leadership qualities. Ms. Edgerson's contributions could be valuable at the next level, and she is known for her assertive defensive play.     [player_tooltip player_id='596236' first='Alyssa' last='Randle'], wearing number 3 for Sterlington and playing point guard, is currently ranked 15th in her position and 53rd in the state. Alyssa demonstrates exceptional ball-handling skills and confidence on the court, truly embodying the role of a floor general. Her ability to guide her teammates into optimal positions for scoring opportunities is notable. Alyssa's court vision is remarkable, and she plays with high energy and determination. She is also a significant scoring threat, capable of scoring from all areas of the court. She is creative in her attacks, driving to the rim to draw fouls or dishing the ball to her teammates. If your team is seeking a versatile player with excellent ball control and selflessness, she would be an excellent choice. Alyssa is prepared to excel at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='881421' first='Addison' last='McDowell'], is a small forward for Airline, currently holding the 26th rank in the state. Addison is a left-handed player who demonstrates the versatility to play as a shooting guard in addition to her primary role as a small forward. She is a proficient three-level scorer, capable of driving to the basket and utilizing her physique in the interior, or executing her distinctive spin move. Addison also possesses the strength to complete plays through contact, often drawing fouls and successfully converting free throws. Furthermore, she is an adept three-point shooter, particularly effective from the corner. Addison exhibits strong ball-handling skills and excellent footwork, enabling her to advance the ball and maintain possession when necessary. Addison is a highly vocal player on the court, contributing significantly on both offense and defense, and serves as an outstanding leader. Addison is a player who is well-prepared for the next level of competition.
