In the girls basketball media world, most people just talk about the same few players or teams. A lot of players get overlooked because they're not in that rotation of the same kids over and over. At Prep Girls Hoops, we take pride in trying to bring to the horizon and talk about teams who are getting overlooked and not being talked about even though they're having a fantastic season. Here are a few from Southwest Ohio, while some might be familiar names, they are all having a great season!

Bethel (16-1) they are completely being overlooked after exploding out to a 16-1 start to the season. What a phenomenal start to a team that is loaded with great underclassmen. Leading the way for the Bees is [player_tooltip player_id='875094' first='Caitlyn' last='Jefferson'] 2028, who is in the running for conference player of the year. She's a great leader, but she gets help from a healthy [player_tooltip player_id='1545521' first='Jocelyn' last='Stegner']. Also a 2028, Stegner has seen her game blossom tremendously this year, and she is a huge part of this team's success. Outstanding shooter and a good basketball since to her.

Milton Union (13-5) they had a huge win the other day against a quality Ansonia team. They have three quality players who have stepped up on most nights. [player_tooltip player_id='743716' first='Michaela' last='Firks'] is a 2027 who is also in the running for the same conference player of the year as Jefferson. Really sharp with the ball, good head player who can get to the rim and protect the ball. Addi Case is a 2027 who really put on a good display the other day when I was in attendance, knocking down threes with good quickness. Kate Copp is a 2026 who also is crucial to their success. Able to score and defend. She runs the floor well and can finish in transition.

Williamsburg (13-4) down in Cincinnati, Williamsburg leads their half of the SBAAC with a very steady attack. Lucy Watts is a 2029 who is not wasting any time making her freshman presence felt on the floor for the team. She actually leads the team in offensive scoring and rebounding, as she is a steady player in the paint scoring at the rim. Peyton Jones is a 2026 who from the guard spot can do a lot with the ball. Not only can she distribute with good court vision, she can also score reaching double figures. Can knock down the three and does an excellent job in transition.

Monroe (13-3) when I'm wrong, I will be the very first to admit it, and I was wrong with this team. I wasn't sure how good they were until they knocked off Talawanda the other day, who everybody's talking about. This is a good solid balance attack, with senior [player_tooltip player_id='538059' first='Ryan' last='Buskirk'] 2026 making a statement again this year with just steady play and she's averaging double figures to lead the team at under 12 per game. That shows you the balance of this program. Another 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='538058' first='Jordan' last='McComas'] and fellow 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='748818' first='Emma' last='Adolph'] are both players who completes this trio of seniors who have put together quite a start to the season! Now the people are talking about the Hornets.

Walnut Hills (14-3) in their conference, everybody's talking about Winton Woods and they should they're the defending state champions. They're talking about West Clermont highlighted by the #1 2029 in Ohio, they're talking about Milford, who has put together some big wins, but they better also start talking about Walnut Hills. [player_tooltip player_id='538040' first='Jasia' last='Ross'] is a 2026 and is their unquestioned offensive leader. But she has plenty of help including 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='973337' first='Honesty' last='Billups'] who just seems to get better every time we see her. 2027 Linde Harris is also a player to keep an eye on along with 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='806940' first='Sanei' last='Partridge'].

Newton (10-4) the Indians are looking to have their best season ever in the WOAC. They've had 12 wins twice in the last five years and they've got 10 already with eight regular season games to go. I really like 2026 Rylee Hess, she is the unquestioned leader and she just makes things go for the team. Nobody is a big-time scorer, but they get a lot of contributions starting with Hess at just under 17 PPG. She does a lot more than score though, she directs traffic and can defend. I really like 2029 [player_tooltip player_id='1307543' first='Ani' last='Cottrell'], she's got a great ceiling, plays with energy. She knocks down the long range shot with a quick release and she can slip and slide through the defense with good handles. Nothing but up for her! Stef Landis, the former Dayton Flyer college basketball star has this team rolling with five straight wins and eight of nine.

Alter (10-6) this team just always keeps going. You wouldn't think that they would have to be on this list but they lost D1 recruit Maddie Moody to Northern Kentucky. They came back with not a lot of scoring and an injury to 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1257610' first='Sarah' last='Brand'], but she has returned with a vengeance. 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='833878' first='Izzie' last='Arcuri'] makes his team go, she's just steady, controls the ball and the tempo, can score and defend. Da'Shai Shephard is a 2026 who controls things in the paint, and she has made her commit commitment. After a 2–3 start to the season, they've beaten Carroll, CJ, and Badin, who all were highly talented and still are very good. This team is picking up steam!
