Top Teams in the State – 1A (End of January)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In this article I just wanted to talk about who are some top teams as we head into the end of January and move closer to state tournament time. Here we will be doing 1A.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Kings HS</em></strong>: Current Record: 13-4</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kings dropped 2 games earlt in the season to Eastlake and Glacier Peak but picked up solid wins against Enumclaw and Nooksack Valley. They have played the best game anyone has against top 2A squad Lynden but should likely win out to finish the regular season. [player_tooltip player_id='585032' first='Kaleo' last='Anderson'] is a real difference maker on the court, being able to score with ease and change her pace easily and picking apart opposing teams. [player_tooltip player_id='1276293' first='Eleanor' last='Gaydos'] has been a player who stepped up big for the squad too. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Bellevue Christian HS</em></strong>: Current Record: 12-4</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team has overall had a great season, following up on a great season they had last year. They have solid wins against Sammamish, Sehome, and Ridgefield but haver taken losses to Annie Wright and Kings. They have a matchup against Annie Wright coming up in a week or so that has big implications. [player_tooltip player_id='928029' first='Kiana' last='Skogstad'] and [player_tooltip player_id='663662' first='Olivia' last='Reynolds'] are the senior leaders for this team and do a great job at helping elevate their teammates games while being able to get their own buckets. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em><strong>Lynden Christian HS</strong></em>: Current Record: 16-2</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Lyncs are normally a top team in the 1A class and has been for many, many years. [player_tooltip player_id='584240' first='Ella' last='Fritts'] continues to lead this squad on and off the court. They have great wins against Mount Vernon, Archbishop-Murphy, Sehome, Squalicum, and Arlington. Their two losses came to Lake Stevens and Napavine, both of which were close losses. They have a matchup against Lynden and they will be tough to beat but they should be able to win the rest of their regular season games. [player_tooltip player_id='1151408' first='Tyra' last='Dykstra'] has stepped up for the team and will be the future of this team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>Zillah HS</em></strong>: Current Record: 15-2</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>They dropped their first game of the season and dominated throughout before dropping a game to 4A squad Davis HS. Wapato will be their last game of the year and will be a big matchup for both teams. [player_tooltip player_id='751223' first='Makenna' last='Klitzke'] has been consistent all season long after stepping up big last year during the state tournament. She knows how to score from all 3 levels and is able to takeover any game if that is what the team needs from her. She gets teammates involved smoothly too with the team being filled with solid talent from top to bottom. They can make a big run and go deep into the state tournament if they keep playing as a team and playing at their pace. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
