Springfield solidified its position at No. 1 going into Week 10 after a 73-52 statement win over 5A state title contender and Midwestern League rival Crater.

Wilsonville continues to impress after a dominant 67-32 win over Northwest Oregon Conference rival La Salle Prep. The Wildcats rise one spot to No. 5, on the cusp of the top tier in 5A.

Crescent Valley rose two spots to No. 10. Don't sleep on the Raiders, as they have endured one of the toughest schedules, and they have the personnel to compete for a spot in the state tournament.

There were no upsets in 5A in Week 9. As we head into the first games of February, the top four teams — Springfield, West Albany, South Albany, and Crater — remain in the top tier, while Wilsonville and Redmond are on the cusp. Silverton stays at the top of a crowded bottom half.

Here are my Top 12 in 5A after Week 9:

1. Springfield (17-1, 6-0)

In another statement win for Springfield, and what could be a 5A state title preview, the Millers completely took over in the fourth quarter to defeat No. 4 Crater 73-52 behind freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1264922' first='Nuari' last='Filipe']'s career-high 34 points. Senior Darissa Romero Ah-Sam added 17 points, 5 three-pointers made, 8 assists, and 6 steals. The No. 1 team in 5A has a big week as they travel to 6A power West Linn for a cross-class showdown on Thursday.

2. West Albany (12-4, 8-0)

After dominating Central 71-22 and Dallas 74-36, West Albany remains undefeated in round one of the Mid-Willamette Conference gauntlet. The Bulldogs start round two at Crescent Valley on Tuesday and host Silverton on Friday. West Albany has averaged over 75 points per game in its last five. Junior sharp-shooter [player_tooltip player_id='832050' first='Payton' last='Starwalt'] surpassed 1,500 career points in a 31-point performance at Dallas.

3. South Albany (13-3, 7-1)

South Albany defeated Corvallis 71-26 and Lebanon 78-53. The RedHawks go to Central on Tuesday and host Crescent Valley on Friday before getting the chance to level things with West Albany in the MWC in Week 11.

4. Crater

Crater defeated Churchill 67-15 and fell to Springfield 52-73 after leading by 2 points at the half. The Comets started strong against the Millers and led by as many as 7 points (20-13) at the end of the first quarter. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='832611' first='Taylor' last='Young'] tallied 13 points in the opening frame. The Oregon State commit finished the game with 30 points and 6 assists. Crater hosts Ashland on Tuesday and goes to North Eugene on Friday. The Comets have a nonleague side quest at Henley in Week 11, and will host Springfield on senior night for its last game of the regular season on a Friday in Week 13.

5. Wilsonville (12-3, 7-0)

Wilsonville dominated La Salle 67-32 and stands alone and undefeated at the top of the NWOC table after delivering the Falcons their first league loss. The Wildcats led 36-19 at the half after their all-time leading scorer, Gabi Moultrie, played less than 2 minutes. Wilsonville has depth and can score inside and out. They look like a team that could surprise and upset at the state tournament.

6. Redmond (16-1, 5-0)

It's crowded at the top of 5A. I continue to have questions about Redmond's strength of schedule, but the team does consistently deliver high-scoring, dominant wins — they blew out Bend 72-32 and Mountain View 81-33 last week. The Lady Panthers go to Crook County on Friday for the first of two regular-season matchups — they blew out Crook County 69-27 back in Week 4.

7. Silverton (11-6, 6-2)

Silverton dominated Woodburn 70-25. The Foxes host Dallas on Tuesday and go to West Albany on Friday.

8. Lebanon (11-5, 5-3)

Lebanon edged out Crescent Valley in a 54-50 win on Tuesday and hung with South Albany early in a 53-78 loss on Friday. The Warriors go on a 4A side quest to Stayon on Tuesday and return to regular-season play at Woodburn on Friday.

9. Crook County (12-4, 3-1)

Crook County followed up its upset at Summit with a 63-49 win at home against Caldera. The Cowgirls go to Ridgeview on Monday and host Redmond for a rematch on Friday.

10. Crescent Valley (8-9, 4-4)

Crescent Valley narrowly lost to Lebanon, 50-54, and defeated Central, 58-33. The Raiders have a big Week 10, hosting West Albany on Tuesday and traveling to South Albany on Friday. Crescent Valley doesn't have an impressive win-loss record, but they have faced a tough schedule. In their first meeting with West Albany, the Raiders led by as many as 9 points in the second quarter, trailed by as many as 14 points early in the fourth quarter, and fought back to within 4 points with under 3 minutes remaining. As of today, according to the OSAA computer rankings, No. 15 Crescent Valley would face No. 2 Redmond in the playoffs. That's a tough first-round matchup for the Panthers.

11. Summit (12-4, 3-1)

Summit picked up two double-digit wins in the Intermountain Conference — 55-45 at Mountainview and 60-46 against Ridgeview. The Storm host Bend on Monday and go to Caldera on Friday.
