The Griffins took their balanced attack out west for the Western Conference tournament last weekend in Scottsbluff. An interesting scheduling quirk that helped the league get an 8-team tournament. In three wins, including a 63-37 win over Sidney in the finals French averaged just under 11 points per contest. The UNK commit is averaging 11.3 points a game for Gretna East, which is ranked third in Class B.

The 6-foot junior had a huge week for the Pioneers as they won the Capitol Conference tournament and moved to 17-1 on the season. In the finals against Yutan, she scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and for the tournament she scored 59 points and hauled down 36 rebounds for coach Eric Jones. On the season, Elofson -- who should be on a load of college radars -- has averaged 16.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. She hopes to lead the Pioneers to state for the first time since 2007.

As the Crusaders quest for a 3-peat in Class C-1 continues, Pittenger was a consistent leader for Lincoln Christian in the Centennial Conference tournament. She scored 13, 15 and 10 points in the three Crusaders including a 39-33 defensive battle with Hastings St. Cecilia. She also added seven rebounds, eight assists and six steals over the tournament. Pittenger is averaging 11.4 points and 3.1 steals per game for Lincoln Crhistina
