Martin’s 1A Grizzlies may have dropped the final game of the day to host school J.L. Mann, but her effort still deserves praise. She put 18 points on the board and was once again key to what High Point Academy hoped to get accomplished in the interior. Along with converting on high-percentage shots, Martin is also a skilled rebounder, making her a double-double possibility on a game-by-game basis. She is listed as a six foot senior and uses every bit of that height to her advantage. Martin understand that playing in the interior will involve a lot of contact which will lead to plenty of free throw opportunities.

One of the state’s 1A teams to beat in High Point Academy has once again looked like one of the state’s premier 1A teams in large part because of Martin’s great play. As of this writing, the veteran-laden Grizzlies are 6-2 and Martin is averaging 19.8 points and 18.3 rebounds in the eight games High Point Academy has played. She has shown plenty of statistical and overall improvement since she first played with the Grizzlies as a freshman. Martin is a dual-sport athlete whose athletic resume also includes volleyball in addition to basketball. She has played her AAU ball with FBC Carolina Hawks Elite and last year scored an offer from Claflin.

The 1A Grizzlies have a trio of talented seniors that will be difficult to replace once they depart from High Point Academy at the close of spring semester. Martin is one of those. At an even six feet, she presents a notable height advantage over many a foe in the interior. Martin can display offensive versatility as a midrange jump shot is part of her repertoire. With free throws, she stays prepared to box out in case an opponent is unsuccessful, will assist with double teams and good number of the rebounds she brings down are of the offensive variety. Martin concluded the Grizzlies’ matchup against Hilton Head Christian Academy with 10 points.

Martin really came up big last month at the SCBCA Elite Camp down in North Charleston. Olivia is a post player who actually embraces on being down in the paint. She plays very rugged at times and has no problems stirring up contact for rebounds. Olivia every night should be in double-digits on the glass with her determination and fight down low in the paint.

Ever since the school opened its doors in 2014, the Grizzlies have mostly found success in its girls basketball program. This is sure to be a bittersweet season for High Point Academy given it is graduating three star seniors – Martin being one of them. Martin averaged a double-double in the 25 matchups she played last season for High Point Academy, tallying 11.8 points and hauling in 10.3 rebounds per game. Olivia was over the boards today and at times was collecting anything thrown off the glass. Martin really used her frame to carve out space and play down low all day long.
Olivia plays a bit rugged and had no problems working through contact along the way. She and the Lady Grizzlies will look to compete for a Class 1A State Championship this season coming from the Upper State.

Martin has been living well athletically at the home of the Grizzlies. If it feels as if there is a High Point Academy slant to the start of our senior list, it is because the 1A power will be graduating an extremely impressive 2023 class at the end of the spring semester. Martin also plays volleyball in addition to running on the grassroots circuit with FBC Carolina Hawks. Last year, she announced that she received an offer from Claflin University – an Orangeburg HBCU. In the 25 games she played for 1A High Point Academy, she averaged a double-double of 11.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

Martin plays down in the paint and understands where her production comes from. Olivia isn’t flashy at all with her play, but she is productive. She has no problem delivering the dirty work and getting physical down low in the paint.
