Howe is Full of Young Talent
Howe’s leading scorers were all freshmen and sophomores. Toniyah Langston, a freshman, led all scorers with 21 points. Nyla Sharp, a sophomore, and Naomi Burch, a freshman, rounded out the scoring for Howe. They have the talent to compete with most of the teams in 2A and could be a team that sneaks up on the competition. These three players are really going to set the tone for this year and should improve tremendously throughout their next few years.
Lighthouse South is a New Team Who is Searching for Footing
Lighthouse South has only one previous season according to John Harrell’s website. That season did not go to well as they failed to win a game. This year they aren’t going to be much better as they are just such an inexperienced team. They should get better in time but this year it is not going to happen. They could improve throughout the year but probably won’t end up amounting to much until they get a little more experience this year.
Toniyah Langston is Going to be a Stud
Langston is a player that isn’t really known around the state but she is really able to score the ball. Langston can score at all three levels and get to the rim. Langston will be the catalyst for the next four years at Howe. This is going to be a player that is under the radar but she can really play. Howe is going to be a solid team with her at the helm of the scoring. The pieces around her make her look even better as they take a little attention off of her.
Lighthouse South going forward
Lighthouse South is a new program that is continuously going to struggle. They are better than last year but they are still going to probably drop every game this year, save one or two. Lighthouse went 0-20 last season and the most points they scored was 39 points. This year they have produced outputs of 15 and 34 points. Defensively they have allowed 64 and 57 points. This is not a recipe for success for a young team.
Indianapolis Howe going forward
Howe is off to their best start in over 14 years and they look to be in good shape going forward. They have a young crop of talent this year that can score the ball and they are playing good defense as well. Howe travels to take on Purdue Tech in their next game. Howe is a team that could be sneaky good over the next few years as they gain experience with all their youth. The future is bright for Howe going forward over the next 3-4 years.
