In an entirely defensive matchup where only a shocking 60 points combined were scored from both teams, top-seeded Lutheran out-hustled the second-seeded Green Mountain, winning the 5A state championship 33-27. Hoopers on both teams showed up on both sides of the ball, racking up steals left and right with a key emphasis on stopping the ball. Today, we're recognizing the most diligent players on the hardwood who made the biggest difference. Congratulations to the Lutheran Lions on hoisting the hardware once and for all, showcasing precisely why they were the first seed throughout the entirety of the playoffs. Let's talk about it.

[player_tooltip player_id='899653' first='Isla' last='Koffmann'] was the undeniable force that propelled the Lutheran Lions to their state championship victory. The 6'1" junior forward delivered a massive double-double, leading all scorers with 16 points and snagging 11 rebounds. Koffmann was highly efficient in the low-scoring battle, shooting 50% from the field (5-of-10) and converting 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Beyond her scoring, her interior presence was the backbone of a Lutheran defense that held Green Mountain to a season-low point total and a staggering 1-for-13 from beyond the arc. This championship-defining performance followed a dominant semifinal in which Koffmann posted 14 points and 15 rebounds, cementing her status as the most impactful post player in the 5A tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='904993' first='Ella' last='Cockrum'] delivered a gritty performance against the top-seeded Lutheran Lions. Despite a difficult loss in the defensive showdown at the Denver Coliseum, Cockrum was the only Ram to score in double digits, finishing with a team-high 12 points. Her efficiency at the charity stripe was flawless, shooting 6-for-6 (100%) from the free-throw line, and she contributed across the board with 4 rebounds and 4 steals. This performance was particularly vital for Green Mountain as the team struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 1-for-13 overall. While the defeat ended the Rams' impressive 24-game winning streak, Cockrum's ability to generate nearly half of her team's offense further solidified her status as one of the premier guards in the Jeffco League.

[player_tooltip player_id='608610' first='Berkley' last='Schneider'] has been a primary scoring threat throughout the season. Schneider transitioned into a limiting defensive force and a clutch finisher in the state final. While the championship was a low-scoring defensive battle, Schneider was instrumental in the final minute, going 4-for-6 from the free-throw line to ice the 33–27 victory over Green Mountain. She finished the campaign as the Lions' leading scorer, averaging 14.5 PPG and proving her versatility with 2.6 SPG and 1.1 BPG. Schneider's veteran leadership and ability to level up in the game's closing moments were the link that secured the Lions' first 5A crown.

[player_tooltip player_id='1215835' first='Addie' last='Evans'] was a bright spot for Green Mountain in this marquee championship matchup. With her eyes tracked on the ball like a hawk, she was able to bring down 4 defensive rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal to keep Green Mountain close in the game despite the heartbreaking loss. At 5'11, Evans utilizes her frame and wingspan to send shots to the bleachers, maintaining control of the paint and the interior at all costs. Evans left it all on the line in the title game, and it paid off in her favor, earning a state ring and ultimate bragging rights. Next season, expect Evans to come even more prepared and have fully developed her play style to its maximum potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='837813' first='Makenna' last='Mudd'] showed off her versatility, locking down the perimeter and the paint simultaneously. Acquiring a monstrous 5 steals, Mudd wasn't letting any passes or inside shot attempts work out in Green Mountain's favor. At 5'10, Mudd easily shoots over defenders and boxes out for each rebound. Featuring exceptional ball control and tempo, Mudd makes the right decisions with the rock on the fly, proving to be a reliable player that coaches and teammates can count on for huge momentum swings. Ending her tenure with a well-deserved state title to her name, Mudd's successful season has translated big time.
