15U: Prospects Who Brought Heat to Brawl at the Palms

These young prospects made strong statements throughout the weekend, showcasing shot-making, playmaking, toughness, and the ability to impact games in multiple ways. Many emerged as players to watch closely this summer and heading into the next high school season. She scored bucket after bucket in the paint, with much of her offense coming in transition, where she thrived in the grab-and-go game after securing rebounds. The versatile small forward/guard rebounded well, pushed the pace, and extended possessions with strong work on the offensive glass. Edwards handled the ball effectively and played with a relentless motor throughout the game. Her on-ball defense was also very impressive, showcasing her ability to impact all phases of the game. She did a good job recognizing openings and driving aggressively to the basket while also knocking down the three with confidence. Watlington showed strong court vision throughout the game and displayed a good feel for reading the pick-and-roll, making smart decisions with the ball in her hands. Her combination of scoring ability, vision, and smooth pace made her one of the more intriguing guards on the floor. Baker was a reliable option on the court, and her ability to score in transition is what made her game really stand out. The young guard shoots the conventional layup, but has a nice floater that she uses constantly in transition. Defensively, Baker uses that quickness to get to loose balls and steal passes out of the passing lanes. The young guard stayed on the attack even when her team was down by 14 points, and that stood out the most. She consistently put pressure on the defense by getting downhill and drawing fouls while displaying good pace and composure with the ball in her hands. Her ability to run the floor and score in transition consistently stood out throughout the weekend. Perez played with good pace, filled lanes in the open court, and showed the ability to finish offensively when opportunities presented themselves. She also shot the ball with confidence from the perimeter, knocking down two consecutive three-pointers in one of her games and showcasing her efficient shooting from the perimeter. Perez looked to be a player who could score in flurries - stringing up multiple points in a hurry.
