All City Series: Murfreesboro (Part1)

Blackman High School has led the charge as of late, producing top-tier talented players by the boatload. Then you've had Riverdale; Oakland has had some kids, PCA, MTCS, and so forth. The amount of talent, as well as the success these schools have had, has been ridiculous. It truly has been a city that has produced champions who've gone on to play at multiple levels, including the WNBA and overseas.   Though the talent has dispersed throughout the city, there are still top talented kids being produced at various schools. I'm talking about difference-makers who get the headlines but also attract the eyes of collegiate coaches. Each and every year, you better believe that a Murfreesboro team has a good shot at going deep into state contention. Just go back through history, and you will find a program from the area representing the state. To be honest with you, there is even a good chance this year that history will repeat itself, and you all will see a program resurrect itself and make a run.   Let me dive into some of the top talent in the Murfreesboro area that will be putting on a show this upcoming season.    Heading back to her original school- she's ready to finish what she started. After playing a year across town, she grew in a couple of ways. Defensively, she took major strides, becoming a solid defender who created chaos. Offensively, she became more aggressive, attacking the rim and utilizing different countermoves. It didn't matter if she was in transition or within the framework of an offense; it was going to be tough to slow her down. Her scoring game has always been there, but her assist numbers and other stats have gone up. Look for her to blast off and finish out a solid career back at Rockvale.     This kid is so athletic, and not only is she fun to watch, but hard to stop. A multi-level scoring threat, she uses her attributes to get to where she wants to go. I love the way she utilizes her body and is physical on the offensive end. She takes a quick first step to penetrate the defense. However, if she is down low, she can back a defender up and exploit them as well. She isn't a sleeper at defensive end either. She gets steals, rebounds, just causes confusion. She's a hot commodity at the next level, but before she heads out, look for her to help lead her team back to state contention.     A solid two-way player who is heading across town to play at Blackman. She's a kid who has an arsenal in her tool belt. She's a downhill threat that is aggressive at all times. She can score at all three levels, dish the rock with the best of them, but also is a solid defender. She's a tough competitor who loves to compete. No matter against whom or what is at stake, she is going to do whatever it takes to be on top. A talented kid who is going to give the Blackman program a big boost. A special talent that has a lot to her game.     Athletic. Versatile. A heady ballplayer who has done nothing but grow her game each and every year. She's a dominant point guard who controls everything right at her fingertips. From the tempo of the game to bringing the juice for her teammates, she is going to give you everything she has on both ends of the floor. Her work ethic travels, and it's on display in every contest. She is a solid scoring threat that can get to the rim, knock down the 3-ball, or stop and pop for a middy. She has awesome footwork, keeping her opponent in front. Poked balls loose, gets deflections, grabs rebounds; she's all over the place defensively. A very talented kid who is most definitely impactful for her club in so many ways.     A kid who has been solid throughout her high school career. She does it all for her club and shows up nightly with a chip on her shoulder. A three-level scoring threat, she is going to find the bottom of the net somehow and someway. It might be that she pulls from the arc, but she can also deliver a quick first step and attack. She can play bully ball down low if she must, but spread the floor out and play off ball, where she can catch and shoot. She's solid on the defensive end and contributes on the boards. She's been a top player for her school since her freshman year, and she will remain that way over the next two seasons as they look to compete and make some noise in the district. Look for her to be a kid who quietly goes about her work but also starts gaining traction in the recruiting game.     Though her school doesn't fall within the city limits of Murfreesboro, she is still from the area, representing The Webb School; she has put the squad on her back and been one of the top kids at the school, in her district, in the state, ever since the 8th grade. A very versatile kid who can do a multitude of things to impact the game. She can handle the rock and be a PG; she can do work from the outside and cook; she can post up and finish at the rim; the girl's offensive game is one of the top ones in the state. Defensively, she can guard the 1-5, get steals and deflections by the boatload, contribute on the boards, and swat shots. She is a high-level two-way player who will be playing big-time college basketball before it's all said and done. Until then, look for her to get her club back to contention and competing for a state title.
