LSU Team Camp: 2029 and 2030 Rising Stars

The future of girls basketball was on full display at LSU Team Camp, and several young prospects from the Classes of 2029 and 2030 made sure they were impossible to overlook. Competing against older, stronger, and more experienced players, these rising stars showed confidence, skill, toughness, and the ability to impact the game well beyond their years.   What stood out most was their lack of hesitation. These young players did not enter the gym looking intimidated by the stage or the competition. They played aggressively, accepted challenges, and showed that they were ready to compete with anyone placed in front of them. Whether attacking the basket, knocking down shots, defending full court, or creating opportunities for teammates, the next generation made its presence felt throughout the event.   Several 2029 prospects displayed advanced guard play, strong decision-making, and the ability to control the pace of the game. They used changes of speed, ball control, and patience to create scoring opportunities while also showing the vision to keep teammates involved. Others separated themselves with their physicality, rebounding, defensive energy, and willingness to make the tough plays that help teams win.   The Class of 2030 brought just as much excitement. Despite being among the youngest players in attendance, these prospects competed with confidence and showed flashes of major long-term potential. Their athleticism, natural instincts, developing skill sets, and fearless approach made it clear that they are ahead of schedule. Many already possess the tools to become high-level players as they continue to grow and gain experience.   LSU Team Camp was more than just another summer event for these young prospects. It was an opportunity to test themselves in a highly competitive environment, and several players answered the challenge in a major way. They showed they could perform under pressure, adjust to the speed of the game, and contribute against quality competition. King made a major impact on the glass, using her body well and battling for rebounds in traffic. She played the role of an enforcer for her team, setting screens, boxing out, defending the paint, and doing the dirty work that helps a team win.   She also showed strong court vision and passing ability for a young post player. King found cutters, moved the ball well, and avoided forcing difficult shots. Her combination of size, rebounding, physical play, and feel for the game gives her a very promising ceiling.   King is still early in her development, but her performance at LSU Team Camp showed that she is a rising prospect to watch in the Class of 2030.     [player_tooltip player_id='874565' first='Kinleigh' last='Hunter'] is an exciting young prospect whose versatility and advanced skill level make her a name to follow in Louisiana's Class of 2030. Hunter plays with confidence beyond her years, showing the ability to handle the basketball, create space, and make plays for both herself and her teammates.   She is at her best when operating with the ball in her hands. Hunter uses a smooth handle and changes of direction to get defenders off balance, while her patience allows her to read the floor instead of rushing possessions. She has also shown strong court vision and a pass-first mindset, controlling the offense and finding teammates in scoring position.   Hunter's perimeter game continues to expand. She can knock down shots off the catch, step into deeper three-point attempts, and use screens to create clean looks. Her ability to stop and pop, attack closeouts, and finish through contact gives her the foundation to become a dangerous three-level scorer.   What stands out most is her willingness to compete against older and more physical players. She has already gained experience playing up in age divisions and has shown that she belongs. Hunter brings confidence, skill, toughness, and natural feel to the floor, giving her one of the more intriguing developmental ceilings in Louisiana's 2030 class.     Janya Brown is a talented young guard who brings confidence, ball control, and shot-making ability to the Huntington backcourt. She handles the basketball well, stays composed under pressure, and can use her change of direction to create space from defenders.   Brown is also a capable perimeter shooter who must be respected beyond the arc. She gets her feet set, shoots with confidence, and can punish defenders who give her too much room. Her shooting ability opens driving lanes and makes her more difficult to contain off the dribble.   As she continues developing her decision-making, strength, and ability to finish through contact, Brown has the tools to become a dangerous offensive guard. Her combination of ball-handling, shooting, and natural scoring instincts makes her an exciting Class of 2029 prospect to follow.     [player_tooltip player_id='881427' first='Kaylee' last='Edmonson'] is a rising star whose game is already advanced beyond her age. With a strong, college-ready frame, good size, and impressive ball-handling ability, she can create matchup problems from several areas of the floor.   Edmonson is already a dangerous scorer who can knock down shots from the perimeter, operate in the mid-range, and use her strength to finish inside. She plays with confidence and is not afraid to take big shots. Her combination of size and guard skills gives her the versatility to handle the ball, attack closeouts, and create her own scoring opportunities.   She is still developing her decision-making against heavy pressure, and there are moments when she can improve her shot selection and avoid forcing difficult attempts. Those are normal areas of growth for such a young player, and she has plenty of time to sharpen her reads, improve her poise, and become a more complete offensive threat.   Defensively, Edmonson is a true competitor. She plays with a high motor, active hands, and the mentality of a pickpocket, constantly looking to disrupt ball handlers and create turnovers. Her vertical ability, effort, and physicality allow her to impact the game beyond scoring.   Edmonson is a “dawg” who competes with confidence and toughness. As she continues to grow, learn, and develop, she has the tools and upside to become an all-star caliber prospect and one of the top players in Louisiana's 2030 class.     [player_tooltip player_id='1867637' first='Jalaysia' last='Washington'] is a powerful young forward with a college-ready frame and the ability to control the game around the paint. The 5-foot-11 freshman averaged an impressive 21 points per game and earned Second Team Class 1A All-State honors, confirming that she is already producing at a high level for Logansport.   Washington plays with confidence in the mid-range and interior areas, using her strength to establish position, absorb contact, and finish around the basket. She is more than a traditional post player, though, as she can handle the ball when needed and create offense outside the lane.   Defensively, Washington brings toughness as a rim protector and strong rebounder. She attacks the glass with a high motor, plays through contact, and gives Logansport a physical presence on both ends. Her combination of size, scoring ability, versatility, and physicality makes her one of the most promising young frontcourt prospects in Louisiana.
